Cox told me to get decent speeds (which I've noticed mine have not been the advertised speed) I need to upgrade my modem to a DOCSIS 3.0 device. They want me to rent one for 7 bucks a month....or I can buy one from a third party on the compatible devices list. So help me figure out which one to get - I'm not a wizard on this stuff, but I like being able to throttle usage based on device, etc. http://ww2.cox.com/residential/sandiego/support/tv/article.cox?articleId={b2ec95d0-7ef9-11df-5590-000000000000} |

Might have to check with Time Warner to see if I can possibly get a faster modem out here.
Just checked, I get 23.88Mbps down, and 0.88Mbps up. I always hated the upload speeds. With online backup services, a fast upstream pipe can be critical. I have to take shit to work on my laptop and then upload, otherwise shit takes a week and a half to upload from here. |

I have TW and had slower upload until I switched to a DOCSIS 3.0 modem. It's still crappy but now I get 1Mbps up. I forget the details but if you really want to know why you can find out. |
| I bought my own router a while ago and went with a Motorola Surfboard 6121 due to arfcom gd overwhelming recommendations. It works fine, was inexpensive, and seems foolproof. The 6181 looks like a newer faster version, so I would go with that. Although I've never had any experience with zoom. |
