They came, they saw, they died; but they got better. Thanks to everyone who made the pilgrimage to the mountain again this year. We had a good event with reasonably miserable weather. Huge thanks to my fellow staff members and our host for allowing us to hit the 10 year mark on this event. What an amazing weekend. My first cola after a 2-year break was one for the record books. Brutal obstacles and a challenging range. Man it was definitely an adventure getting to my first South East! And I learned a lot more than just about my poor run performance! Lots of things to do different and better next time. But I wouldn't take it back. Thank you @southerncross, @Fatguy7814 and @0627devildog for getting me through a night run as soon as I got out of the car! Thank you @GAhunter95 for capturing what you did of my run! Those are some hot pics! Thank you @IH8TFP08 for coordinating the awesome swag! And thank you @HDLS for letting me use your pistol can so I could fail miserably at night again! And thank you all for heckling! That definitely... helped... We're most of the way home now, tired, sore, and missing my friends that I didnt get to spend enough time with. See yall at TX in a few months! |
Really had a great time. I'm not the most chatty guy, but I enjoyed all the conversation, the suffering, and the heckling. I deserved every bit of it.  Huge shout out the all the staff, Geissele, Primary Arms, Esstac, Axe Handle Distillery, MOA Targets, and any others i'm missing from my brain at the moment. Still no movement on patches, but I'll send IMs with any issues with addresses. also if you missed the event and bought shirt/patches, IM me with your address and I'll ship them or pass along the cola network. This event to me has always been about self improvement and challenging one's self, both physically and mentally with the heckling/encouragement from Cola Bros. I always had trouble on the chug which historically has kept me from 1st place finishes. This year was the first time I took out the self doubt with encouragement from others in the chair circle and instead of saying "I cant chug" I said, "I'm going to clean chug today" and 30 min later I was actually able to do it. I had been lifting and rucking with the kids in preparation for this event, fully understanding there were no prizes to be had, just the satisfaction of healthy competition. Needless to say, the prizes were a welcome surprise, further solidifying that hard work pays off. I rocked the Esstac Uni Plate carrier and belt as my kit for combat class. Even inverted, running, climbing, lifting, etc I'm never worried about losing my gear with their products. The Uni plate carrier is super lightweight, without sacrificing durability. Excellent for an event like this. Of course I rocked a Geissele equipped AR for my rifle. That trigger tho... Shout out again to staff for the place to run and puke, and the organization needed for this event. Congrats to Meg, HillMonkey, and Old Greg on their wins! F'n new guy here. I had a great time the whole weekend except for 51 minutes. Oh, and the 5 minutes trying to get the taste of Malort out of my mouth. Kudos to all staff for helping set up the match, organize the shirts and patches, run the match, and having patience with the guy that lost part of his hearing protection before the shooting portion. Special thanks to the land owner for use of the property (& removal of the danger noodles) & his dad for bringing sustenance for Friday lunch! Also a big round of applause to all the guys who i had never met before that treated me like an old friend. Experiences like CWSEX are what I'm looking for at this stage in my life.... try some hard shit, make it to the other side, improve on things you sucked at & keep making yourself harder to kill. My apologies for leaving before the closing, but more things in Ala-bama needed to be shot. |
