I have a question about CMP sales. I cant find a CMP forum so maybe this is the place to ask.
I will be going to Ohio on vacation in Sept. would I be able to stop in the CMP store and purchase a weapon and take it home with me? I am a member of a affiliated club. I have a Michigan CPL (ccw) and am able to purchase any weapon here at home. |

http://www.thecmp.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=72 It sounds like you are covered. I would call, to make sure you have all your ducks in a row before you get there. In my experience, they are extremely helpful. |

Check out both the M1 forum here in the Armory section, there's info plus links; I recommend perusing the CMP site itself for the detailed requirements. I would imagine that if you meet ALL the requirements you should be good to go. I believe the form(s) have to be notarized. Check the site for the details. Last year I spent maybe an hour looking for a rifle then about a half hour to buy. |
| Yes you can, I bought my Garand from the store in Anniston. Just bring all the documentation, it will take a little while to process your info so plan some time. Good thing about the store is you can pick the one you want. If you ask they will provide you a tool to gauge the muzzle and throat. On the Garand look for one with a muzzle less than 3 and throat less than 5. |

I'm curious to see what they've got left up there. Good luck on purchasing "the greatest battle implement ever devised". |

Sorry to burst your bubble Heartbreaker but I have always wanted a M1 Carbine. |

Just gotta be sure to have proof of your affiliated club. may need to have club forward it to the store. |

Not too difficult. Affiliated our club with them a few years ago. Wasn't hard to do. Couple of guys from our club have been to the south store multiple times. But you must have all your info at hand or it's a no go. Last time we were there the carbines were pretty rough, but ymmv. Garands were a much better deal then. They still have one of the best prices on ammo 'speccially if you don't have to ship it.

Was at the north store last week. I'd wait a couple of weeks before calling them, they're in the middle of National Matches right now and a touch busy.
Only carbines on the rack were without bolts and very rough shape. Sold out by the end of the week. Garands ranged from very nice to awfully rough and priced accordingly. They had a fair number of M1D's but no scopes. 22 target rifles, some without bolts. |
| They keep finding more. Everytime a Veterans organization disbands, or an ROTC, or any same such group, the rifles have usually been returned or donated to the CMP. Plus there are still some in other countries under lend/lease agreements that find there way back from time to time. And who knows how many still in storage somewere that show up sometimes. |

That's on my gotta buy list for sure. |

It sucks to hear that their inventory is crap right now, but I'm sure they'll get more. |

I think the CMP requires your BC and a stool sample to become a member.
Then you get in the door Then you have to pay for additional undercoating and a re-service dis-enfranchise fee for the nomenclature trust fund et al brute. And you also win a CMP match with a 4 stroke minor on the P scale "hotlips" range. Visa or mastercard only. |
