I just started to notice that when I remove a CD from my truck's in dash / factory CD player, the disc is really warm to the touch.  I never noticed this before.

Is there a logical mechanical explanation for this?  Is my CD player about to go tits up?

Nothing to be alarmed about, as long as it's not so damn hot you can't hang onto it

You have an overheating problem caused by lazy union workers not putting your truck together correctly.

Got the heater/defroster on????

My old car used to do that and I think it was because it had a vent blowing right on the cd player so If I was using the AC then the cd's came out ice cold and if I used the heater they came out hot.

Yes I have the heat on...It's Michigan...It's February.  I'll play with it and see if that makes a difference.

all my car CD players have done that

I assumed there's some sort of heating element in there to warm up the player components if you're using it in cold weather.

The amp inside the deck is probably heating it up. Mine always does this. It could be the heat ducts. It's probably fine.

CDs?

Do they still put music on CDs?

Wierd.

In my old toyota the heat ducts ran right past the CD player so they would get hot.

music sales are down so this the way the music industry makes its money.. by over heating your Cd's to kill them. every one know that high heat will kill burned Cd's. but pressed one will be just fine in your in dash easy bake oven.

Your cd cooling fluid is probably low. Top it off, no need to get the factory shit though.
