For fucking alleged shoplifting? Give me a fucking break. The kid had just graduated high school and had his wole life in front of him. This is sad and I feel bad for the family that this kid paid with his life over a series of stupid mistakes. We all were 18 once and did probably far worse. RR |
|
Wait... The kid was driving erratically. The kid wasn't wearing a seatbelt. The kid didn't have a driver's license. When the cop tried to stop the kid, the kid ran, driving way too fast for the road. ... and it's the cop's fault the kid killed himself? What the hell is wrong with the media? |
He was a criminal and never had time to prove otherwise. He died as a criminal resulting exclusively from criminal actions. Fuck him. |
Don't run if you don't have a reason. he played a stupid game and won a stupid prize. |
He didn't die for allegedly shoplifting, he died while running from the Police, big difference, and it was HIS choice to do it |
I could not have said better. |
This kid was going to be a pos his whole life. I had a cop behind me when I was 18, I didn't run! Not sure I'm happy he's dead, but it's probably a burden off the taxpayers! |
ARFCOM honorable mention for stupidity 2008
|
Tell me how you know he was going to be a POS for the rest of his life? |
Saying this kid deserved to die for alleged criminal acts shows that you lack real life experience to judge so quickly. I will remind you that it only takes one false arrest, one crooked BATF tech, and some soft rifle primers before you become an alleged criminal as well- so be careful how you judge someone else's life. What if the kid got scared for accidentally backing up into the squad car, then ran because he didn't have a driver's license. Definately not something that anyone should "deserve to die" for. You have a lot to learn PFC, people make mistakes, you will to someday, pray the good Lord goes easy on you, as that's called life. RR |
I don't agree with this. All he did was run from the cops because he had no license. We have no proof he did anything but that. Was he a complete moron for running from the cops, for what would have been a slap on the wrist basically? Yes. Did he deserve to die? His stupidity killed him, and I'm ok with that, but to say that he was POS for one documented mistake? I think that's pushing it. Once again, I don't blame the cops, and the kid got his prize for playing stupid games. I just don't agree with jumping to conclusions about the kid otherwise. If you have some personal insight though on him, please, go ahead and share. |
Oh, I forgot. This is General Discussion. |
Stupid choices, stupid results. I'm happy he didn't take out any bystanders due to his stupidity. |
Um, because he died while committing crimes? He led a life of crime until the day he died. |
Agreed.
I won't go nearly so far as to say he "deserved to die", as I've seen many kids who truly didn't "deserve" to die taken at a far to early age, and it's not like the kid had just axe murdered orphans or burned down a convent. That said, the acceptance of running from the police for the simple excuse of "being scared" is far too accepted in certain communities, and the blame too quickly shifted to the police, rather than the person who escalated the situation by choosing to flee.
And some mistakes are paid for with money, many with scars (physical or emotional), others with time, and some with your life. The idea is for you to know which ones are worthy of which sacrifice - and that's something that usually only comes with experience. |
He did not die from allegedly shoplifting, he died because he was running from the cops. I'd MUCH rather HE die then to crash into a REAL innocent driver because he was speeding and lost control. |
You really do believe that actions shouldn't have consequences, don't you? |
Its sad that the kid wasted his future, but it was his decision. An 18 year old should know better than to run from the police. Period. The only people at fault are the kid and his parents. |
My buddy had 19 convictions before he was eighteen, was in a gang, later joined the Army, went onto Business college, has a family now and works for Procter & Gamble as a manager. I had 4 misdemeaner convictions as a teenager, was in a gang, served in the Army, went onto Business college, have a family now, manage $10 million in assets for a $360 Billion dollar parent corporation while contributing to society. My other friend had three convictions for assault as a teenager, joined the Marine Corp, served three tours in Iraq, was wounded in combat, and now is running a small lawn care business trying to become a firefighter. My other friend got into trouble many times but never got convicted, did a lot of drugs, went on to get his Master's degree in medicine then went on to serve three tours in Afghanistan and one tour in Iraq as an officer in the Army. Another friend had several convictions as a teenager for drug use, his own brother died in a drug related incident, spent time in juvenile detention, yet now he is a police officer and works some of the worse streets in our city to rid them of crime. Even my own brother carried a gun for protection at the young age of twelve, had drug problems, got convicted a couple times, but went onto college, has a kid and works in construction management. In fact every guy I know got in trouble as a teenager but every one of them went onto college and made something of their lives. RR |
He did have a famous sister though who wrote the song Bertha Butt Boogie
|
Good for you and those other used-to-be-criminals. Some of us have made a habit out of not living a life of crime, though. This is like someone saying "I quit smoking!" You want a fucking cookie? I've never smoked. Get over yourself for finally coming around and being a useful and productive member of society instead of the thing that tried to rip civilization apart. |
For every one like that...
|
Wow! You're so cool! I wish I could be more like you and your ex-hoodlum friends! |
Agreed..it wasn't the cop's fault. The kid had a choice to stop. At worse he would have gotten busted for driving without a license. Instead, he chose to run at a speed that was apparently to much for conditions and killed himself and a passenger and critically injured a third person. I have no sympathy; being 18 doesn't doesn't excuse it either. When I fucked up at 18, I paid for it. |
POS attribitutes: 1. driving around with no license and being so casual about it that he is driving around his buddies 2. instead of taking his punishment like a man, running from the cops 3. TYPICAL criminal enabling parents - they let him drive w/o lic and furthermore blame the LEOs for his death no personal insight here, just common sense i did say that i didn't think death was deserved the crimes involved however, i don't feel the slightest twinge of anything now that he is gone |
I almost snipped it, but those are good stories. You are correct to say that I am not prescient and do not know the future, but I have to base those type judgements on the MAJORITY of cases. I am certainly glad that you and your friends beat the odds, now you can recount the tales of the countless others you hung around with that are still criminals. |
![]() Yeah...those silly police! They should have used their ESP to deduce that the guy RUNNING FROM THEM and illegally operating a vehicle was really just a good boy who wasn't breaking the law (well, aside from the whole driving with no license thing) and shouldn't have used their dark voo-doo powers to MAKE this dumbass get behind the wheel and drive so dangerously that he killed himself and his friend. It's CLEARLY all their fault! |
Locking your keys in your car is a "mistake". Deciding to try and outrun the police is abject stupidity...in this case, TERMINAL stupidity. What he did was no different than playing russian roulette. He took his chances...and he lost. Tough luck for him. For such a fine, upstanding individual he didn't seem to care much about the safety of his passenger or of the general public as he was running from the cops either.... |
Cause in Virginia we do not issue tickets to cars, but to the driver or owner. I am sure daddy and gramaw would have been truthful about who was ILLEGALLY operating the car when the police showed up later. I know a guy who a state police officer had to let go since he did not keep sight of the car (guy was going opposite direction on 29 in the valley) and could not identify the driver. The statey flat out told him that he had clocked a similar car going over 100 mph but had lost sight of it, and to please drive carefully. |
He endangered the community.... the suspect killed himself, not the police. Even though the police would have been legally justified in doing so. |
No...for being a true dumbass and running from a cop...all he had to do was pull over and take the rap for dwl like a man...play stupid games win stupid prizes. |
