What are the best computer speakers for a Soundblaster Audigy 2 card?  I currently have my surround setup plugged into my computer (Pioneer receiver, Infinity floorstanding speakers/center/bookshelf surrounds), but they are a bit bulky for my room, and I would like to put the big setup out in the living room, where the big speakers can breathe a bit more.  Furthermore, they don't work an surround mode for games, which is generally why I have them in this particular setup (They are fantastic for music, however).

I've been considering the Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1, but I've found far more reviews than I'd like that say that particular model has bugs (and a fair number have had their speakers break down on them just after the warranty expired).

So, what do you folks recommend?

I reccomend the Klipsch speakers you mentioned.  No other brand comes even remotely close to Klipsch.

I have been using a set of Original Promedia 5.1 for 5 years now, and a set of the ultra 5.1s on my other computer for 2 years, and I have never had a problem with mine.  Klipsch customer service rocks too (had a DD 5.1 decoder box that I broke the faceplate off of, had a 4 day turnaround to get it fixed).

If you dont want to go with the Ultra 5.1s, maybe try to find a set of original Promedia 5.1 speakers, or try out the GMX-D 5.1 setup (exellent speakers as well)

My Logitechs sound every bit as good as my brothers Klipsch speakers, though there is a small difference. The logitech have better bass and the Klipsch have better highs, but they both sound damn good.

I've got 2 sets of the 4.1 Klipsch speakers...they sound great, and I've never had any trouble with them whatsoever.  I little pricy, though.  I'm pretty sure you can get *almost* as good a sound for half the price these days from Logitech and a view others.

I can honestly tell you (without guilt) to go with the Logitech high end systems.  I actually just ordered this (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/CA/EN,CRID=2177,CONTENTID=9486)
and was able to find it new for about 300 bucks on the internet.  Prior to this set, I had the high end system from last year but Katrina decided to put 10+ feet of water over them.

They have crazy bass, are THX rated, and I have an Audigy 2 and use the optical output which is awesome.

You can't go wrong with these imo.  And if you really want to drop some more money, they have a new set for the computer with wireless rear speakers.  I can't comment on those though as I have not heard them.

I favor routing the output from the PC into my stereo system.    I'd say that a $20,000 dollar
audiophile system hooked to the PC would rate very high on the "best computer speakers" list.

To me, the only thing that makes computer speakers "computer speakers" is that they're
usually internally amplified and are packaged for computer use.     You can plug the output into
your stereo and use practically any speakers you like from there.

Logitech Z5500.  Best bang for the buck by far and the price just dropped another $50 this week. Read reviews on Amazon and Neweggg then buy them here:
