civillian clothing so I can blend in with the
rest of the population, I dont want to dress in any type of military clothing and draw attention to myself. The same thing IRAQI soldiers did so they wouldnt be spotted by our US troops, they put on civi clothes to blend in. Levi's polo shirt casual leather walking shoes or loose untucked casual shirt with a concealed handgun underneath. |

This is probably as hotly a debated topic as what ammo is most effective. But in my experience, I have learned that much of it can work. Obviously, you want something that will blend into your surrounding environment. But other than that, it's all up for debate. Two designs I like in the deciduous forests here are the MARPAT and Mossy Oak patterns. And the Mossy Oak looks good no matter the season. But I have yet to find anything I like better than a well constructed ghillie suit with local vegetation attached to it. This is probably the most effective camo we have. But the VC made good use of the black pajamas in the triple canopy jungles of Vietnam. The camo is only as effective as the individual wearing it.
And one other thing about camo that lots of folks don't understand.....it is most effective when you are not moving. Some camo patterns are actually more visible on the move in the bush than a plain OD design would be. So remember, if your camo is designed to look like a tree, act like one! LOL. -Charging Handle |

Subdued color civilian garb. Khaki "cargo pants", dark shirt, lightweight vest. Handgun goes in cargo pants easily. The clothes look normal, but have a good bit of utility and the colors are such that you can reasonably hide if someone chases.

I like Flecktarn and Jungle Tiger Stripe the best.
I would wear dark or subdued clothes in SHTF situations. |

It's pretty much all wooded in my neck of the woods so I believe a hunting pattern would be the most effective for me.

The danish model 84 camo pattern is computer-developed to fit with typical danish foliage and terrain. However, I did talk to one of the guys that worked on the project (at the Danish Army Combat School in Oksboel) and he told me that one of the "starting points" for the development did include the German pattern that you showed, but was not limited to it. However, the new Danish pattern merely looks somewhat like the old German pattern, whereas the Germans copied the new Danish pattern precisely, and only switched colors. If you look at the pictures that I posted and that you posted, it is quite OBVIOUS that the patterns are really quite different. The original German pattern was spots of roughly the same size that varied in color. The Danish pattern is made up of collections of much smaller spots that make up larger overlapping patterns. To the ignorant layperson they may look very similar at first glance, but once a more detailed comparison is made, they are really very different. I guess they couldn't wait to get back to a pattern that looked like their uniforms of yore, even if not an exact match. |

yes, I truthfully spotted all 3 almost immediately
the guy on the right is easy because his dark legs stand out against the light grass, if he moved back into the woods it would be harder guy on the left stands out from his head and left hand the most and also his gun and left upper arm guy in the middle is probably hardest to spot and was probably made a little esier by being dead center but I can still make out the outline of a person. his left hand also helps give him away Quoted: Can you spot all three guys here? depends on location. if I'm going to be out in the woods it'll be US woodland pattern since that's what I have. winter might be some sort of hunting pattern as my deer hunting jacket is for cold weather, not sure the pattern on it though since being in NY I always have theblaze orange side turned out. around civilization I have to agree that jeans or yuppy style cargo pants (the ones that are a little more "designer" than bdu pants but are basically the same) would be good since they wouldn't stand out as much

I'm not talking about who fought on what front during WW-II, or who occupied who. I'm talking about camo patterns - what the hell are you talking about? Can you seriously not see the huge differences between the two patterns? Do you need to get your eyes checked - or do you maybe think that MARPAT and CADPAT are also just copies of that simple early spot pattern?
