Storage wars and similar shows have taught everyone that locks are easy to cut off. I used the linked type of lock and was happy with it since it is harder to cut with bolt cutters. But with cordless grinders using cut off wheels, anything is easy to cut open these days. Run an image search on google for other ideas but it will be something that works with the storage units locking mechanism setup. |

Go here https://lock-lab.com/ . He will explain what to look for. Most made in the USA are crap. I am learning picking from his site, and he starts you out on Master locks, since they are so easy. I've always used Master locks, and after a little practice, I can open almost as fast with a pick as with a key. The Abus that Wiz linked is highly thought of.

| If you have a good lock, a determined thief will attack the cheap closing mechanism that the lock goes through instead. A couple of snips with bolt cutters and they're in - with the lock still secured. You're better off finding a reputable storage facility with limited (gated) access, good lighting, and security cameras than spending tons of money on a mega-lock. |

Don't think there's a chain, lock or hinge made that an angle grinder and Metabo Slicer won't cut through, in relatively short order. I've even seen theives unscrew the sheet metal screws holding the exterior tin sheeting on. |

There is no regular lock that can't be cut in .5 seconds with a 80 dollar grinder. Literally .5 seconds. They are nothing.
We cut 2 or 3 month on job boxes and whatnot. It takes longer to walk to it than it does to cut it. I used to want a gun safe. Then I lurked the forum and realized that the only place I can put something that heavy is in my shop next to the torch, demo saw, jackhammer, grinder rack (8 of them with a nice assortment of wheels installed), plasma cutter, and chain lift.
