[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Benchmark utility

What's a good general benchmark utility out there? I should be getting all the components of my new machine today (waiting on UPS to deliver... slow bastards!), and I wanted to compare it to my current machine.

Any suggestions?

I'm on the new machine now!

I ran 3Dmark, and it actually scored HIGHER on my old PC.

???

I installed DirectX, and the latest Nvidia drivers...

At least putting it into USE, I definitely saw improvement (installed Call of Duty 2 and got in, was able to step up the resolution, and got better framerates)

I think I will be needing to get a new video card soon anyway...

You should run Futuremarks PCMark instead of 3dMark. Bench's the whole PC instead of just the graphics card and CPU. Can run individual tests on mem, cpu, graphics, hard drives, etc.

make sure the agp is set to the correct 8x or 4x in the bios

What are the specs of both machines? Remember, in 3dmark your bottleneck is the video cartd. You could have a faster CPU, RAM, HD in your new machine but a faster video card in your old machine. Just a guess.
