Hey guys, Just got this email and though yall would appreciate it. Can't beat a $50 pair of good boots (with shipping) http://www.lapolicegear.com/co-bates-29502-usmc-rat.html ![]() UPDATED PRODUCT INFORMATION: Bates has run low on supply for the imperfect version of this boot (the 29502D model), and has now begun selling the 29502A, first quality version instead. The 29502A boot was contracted to be made by Bates for the USMC, but once the boots made it to the field, the USMC realized that the boots needed a few subtle design tweaks. Bates is still currently making a newer version of these boots for the USMC, making this first model an overstock special. They are first quality boots. Both the imperfect (29502D) and first quality (29502A) boots are being shipped at this time, and we are not able to accept any requests. By ordering you acknowledge that you may receive either version. This item is therefore final sale and cannot be returned. |

Quoted: Quoted: That's a nice way of saying the USMC realized the boots were absolute junk....the USMC realized that the boots needed a few subtle design tweaks. this.... LOTS OF REPORTS of the soles coming off, and bates will not warranty since this are ALL .gov rejects... |

This knife is on closeout, but with no price reduction http://www.lapolicegear.com/hstool-dryfe.html |

Weren't these on closeout a year ago for $59? I recall hearing that there were 50,000 or so pairs that didn't make it to government issue, and were thus sold at deep discount. It appears as though they're going through a second round of clearance.
FWIW, if it's just the soles, than it's a hell of a good deal. A quick google search shows that some peopled have complained about stitching coming apart as well. It's all pretty vague. |

one of the eyelet loops came off as i was lacing them up.
well. if you have to resole them or anything like that, you still wont get anywhere close to the 300 dollar range they originally were. Who in their right mind would pay $300 for a pair of Bates boots? |

When did you order? Mine show shipped on the 16th. Looking forward to trying them out. My Bellevilles are well worn and I was looking for a new pair when a buddy emailed me a link to these. Price was too good to pass. Especially since I work in an office nowadays. But I still wear boots daily. ETA-I'm a 12.5r and they were in stock. |

I wonder how the quality compares to the Danner's. I love my Danner RATS. I wondered the same thing. My Danners are the best boots I have ever owned. Hell, best footwear I have ever owned. Mine too. I wear them everywhere. They are very comfortable. |
