I saw a Bass Pro coming soon banner in Anchorage. Woot. On a scale of 1 to 10, with Sportsman's Whorehouse being a 6, how do they rate for gun stuff?  Will they have .22?

The bass pro in Cincinnati has ARs, ammo, primers, powder, bullets and reloading supplies in stock now.  Also lots of AR tools and gear.

Congrats man.

edit to add they have eotechs and acogs on the shelf and in stock.

A decent amount of long guns, some pistols, decent amount of ammo usually.

AFG? I thought you were about to tell us that they were opening up in Afghanistan...

Looks and atmosphere they are a 10 compared to Sportsmans. As for shooting products I'd put them below Sportsmans, but they have much better fishing, clothes, etc.

If Sportsmans is a 6, Bass Pro is a 4

The women folk will like Bass Pro, for the clothes shopping.

I am with Warhawk on this.  I actually like Sportsmans, better than Cabelas or Bass Pro.

All the Sportsmans I have been in seem to carry a higher quality of products.

Where in Cabelas and Bass Pro, especially their clothing, is most all from China.

Nothing to be excited about unless paying 25% above most places excites you.

I'm going to Cabelas in KC today. I only like going there because they carry some fishing gear I can't get locally.

Last time I was there I found hoody for $75...........for a fucking hoody. Nothing special about it. Had "Cabelas" on the front and was some sort of camouflage and they wanted $75 for it.

But I have to admit, everytime I walk in there it's like a kid walking into toys-r-us.

They are decent back in Ohio, ammo is usually a smidge higher priced than walmart, but stocked well (this was pre-panic craziness, so this has likely changed) and yeah, I'm stoked about the Anchorage one, hopefully someone will get some 9mm up here. I hate getting ripped off on Alaska'sList every time I hit the range on the weekend.

Yep

The one 5 minutes from my house is the only place in the area with primers in stock though.

I prefer Sportsman's Warehouse to Bass Pro and Cabelas.

Nice store, decent selection. Stay away from their Red Head brand stuff. It's junk.

Meh, Cabellas is more better for gun stuff.

The one here has comically high prices on most gun stuff.  In the past, they've had a good assortment of ammo at least, but again, the prices aren't that great.  What it does have is plenty of fudd employees who will give you bad advice and tell you about how we need to ban "them high capacity assault clips".

Bass Pro shops must be different all over the place. In IL they pretty much suck for gun stuff. The one at Gurnee Mills Mall does have a pretty nice range however.

I couldn't agree more!  I like going in our local Bass Pro to look around, but I just can't bring myself to pay the silly high prices they have! The other day I looked to see if they had any reloading supplies, but no joy!  They DID have a few Small Riffle Primers if I was willing to pay $6.50 per hundred. I wasn't that crazy to get them.

Their limited amount of AR stuff is ridiculously priced. Even with shippping, you can buy the parts for much less online AND you won't have Sales Tax for your online purchases.

They do have EVERYTHING for fishermen, though their prices are still higher than the mom & pop stores.

Yep.  Only buy there in case of emergency.

Fudd store, hostile to 2nd and EBRs, prices are 20-30% higher than elsewhere.

I used to have a Bass Pro credit cards and use my points to buy Surefires, but they stopped sell those a while ago... that was the last straw
