Do they still use the "cattle cars" at Benning or anywhere else?
Just saw a truck with trailer today that looked like one, and it brought
back some fond memories.

Have a good weekend, and don't forget to call or visit your moms.

Too long ago for me, I'm sure they use hovercraft by now.

They did at Ft.Sill when I was there, nothing like getting really stinky, and then getting packed nut to butt with your fellow soldier. I couldn't think of a better way to bond Really gave meaning to make your buddy happy. This was in 2003 by the way.

2003, yep.

A couple guys have gone in '06 and '07 in our unit and said they still using them, as well as what we called the "Super-liners" in '03....the big semi/city bus looking trailers with actual seats and AC.

At Benning in 97 someone had carved the chorus to "Disposable Heros" into the wall of one of the cattle trucks. I was dissapointed that me and the platoon fat kid were the only ones that knew what the hell it was.

Haven't seen any in Knox since I got here. Last time I saw any was Lewis, 2004.

Long road marches + dripping sweat + cold AC of the superliner at night = bad chills

Cattle Cars were the best. You could sleep standing up because there was no way you would ever fall down.

We had two guys running there mouth once on a Cattle Car and the Drill Sergeant just starts climbing over the top of people to get to them and you can't see anything but you hear the Drill just beating the shit out of the guys back there. That was my favorite Cattle Car moment form 1989 at Ft. McClellan.

IIRC Lost in the Woods uses cattle cars...

Most places use the 40-pax bluebird schoolbus now...

I do see cattle cars hauling ROTC cadets around Ft Lewis when summer camp is in session....

i still remember being packed into a cattle car at lost in the woods in the summer of 1983

the smell was terrible and it always seemed like the trip would never end.
