| A question for you infantry guys. I am going to join either the USMC or Army and go (Infantry). After basic training and advanced infantry training, what is a basic day in the shoes of an infantry soldier/Marine? What can I do to prepare myself for basic training (I'm 15, so I have time to prepare myself and want to take full advantage of it.) P.S- Please don't try to tell me not to go with infantry, I am, bottom line. Thanks for the info. |

depends if you are in the field or not. Basic day in garrison 0500 first call, up and out 0530 PT 0700 release from PT 0830 First formation 0830-1300 work details, lunch, nap. Clean barracks, Weapons maintenence, maybe classes. Motor pool if you have vehicles. 1300 afternoon formation. 1300-1600 or 1630 More of the mornings activities. In the Scout Platoon we had PT again at 1430 or 1500. Road march, swimming, obstacle course stuff. 1600-1630 Final formation, release for the day. In the field, you are working 24/7. It's hard to pin down. Usually we spent all night on manuvers, and slept during the day. You might spend all night humping to a new position, dig in, defend the perimeter all day, pull out at night, march all night, and do it again. |
