So I'm replacing the A/C system in my 1997 Accord EX 2.7L V6.
The following will be replaced with new parts: Compressor Accumulator/Drier Condenser All o-rings The remaining lines and evaporator will be removed and flushed with an Factory Air A/C flush kit and R134a system solvent. I purchased the Honda shop repair manual (not crappy Haynes) but the instructions are pretty weak. Questions: What should I use to lube the o-rings? How much PAG oil do I need to add to a completely dry system and do I add it all to the compressor or also to the accumulator? Any tips on adding the refrigerant? Do I add it with the A/C running? How much refrigerant will it take? I have 20 oz right now. Any other tips? |

4.3 oz of oil, from completely dry. Drain the old oil, subtract the amount from 4.3 oz.
Lube the O-rings with PAG oil. Depending on the machine, you can refrigerant when the engine is stopped, or running. I'm showing it takes 600g of refrigerant, or 21.2 oz. Double check these numbers against your service manual, and the sticker on the car if it's still intact. |

The compressor is seized so it looks like catastrophic failure which means metal bits all throughout the system. It's a parallel flow condenser so it can't be flushed. I'm going to borrow a vacuum, pull it, let it sit over and see it the gage reading stays the same. |
