I use virtualization software under linux hosts all the time.  I'm trying to do it as a windows host, linux guest now.

I tried VirtualBox, but X is broken under 64 bit windows 7.

Back in the day, I used vmware server, but it hasnt been updated in a couple years, is it obsolete?

I don't want a hypervisor.  This is just for temporary testing on my main box.

VMware Workstation would be the ideal tool for the job.

Yes, VMware works great.  It's the only thing we use.

Just because I wonder if it would work.  Install XP Mode on the Windows 7 64bit.  Install Virtualbox in XP Mode.  Then install?
Because Virtual within Virtual is sooo much cooler than a single virutalization.

Little known fact:  If you virtualize a machine on top of another VM, it becomes physical again.

It's true, I swear!
