i believe there is a job fair on Monday for APD.  give Recruiting a call to verify and for particulars.

good place to learn your craft.

the City is not in the best financial state but change is inevitable.  (we had a 10% furlough for a large chunk of last year.)

what are you looking for?

ETA:
The Police Department will host a Job Fair and Testing on January 25th at 8am.
The location will be the Atlanta Public Safety Headquarters, 226 Peachtree St., S.W. Atlanta, Georgia 30303.
If you have any questions, please contact the Recruitment Office at (404)546-7650.

I've personally never had a real bad encounter with any APD, and I dealt with them all the time both on and off work, with the exception of when im at the airport, which I always heard was where the dept. would sweep all the problem officers over to instead of dealing with them formally.

That being said, they don't exactly have a glowing reputation as a squared away dept. One in three recent academy grads have been arrested or found guilty of a crime before coming on the job, and I believe something like half of all new officers were denied at one or more agencies prior to joinng APD.

Like I said I never had any memorable truly dusturbign encounters with Atlanta's finest, but as a whole there were many officers who seemed to have no problem openly acting imo what was clearly an unprofessional manner for an officer while on duty and in public.

Coming from working EMS in NY alongside Nassau PD and then NYPD on occasion, both of which I have always held in the highest regard, Atlanta took a little getting used to...

I also recently remember reading an article where an entire Academy class had to be summarily dismissed after every single cadet was found conspiring with everyone else to cheat on one of their final exams as a group.

it was Cobb County Police Department.

I don't deal with them much but they try to put any traffic accident that's in their jurisdiction off on us if it's 500 feet  away from the city limits. I got sent to one at 0745 one day ( we get off at 0800) that was called in by an APD officer  and you could clearly see our city limit sign about 75 yards away. One of their supervisors still tried to put it off on me and I just got in my car and drove away. This happens on a regular basis with them.

also, if you have ever worked in law enforcement you would know that many officers apply to several agencies and wait years before they get hired. Theres many MANY agencies that have 4-5 openings and 100-200 qualified officers apply.
