$50.00 ArmaLite Economic Stimulus Program November 14, 2008 ArmaLite has created the ArmaLite Economic Stimulus Package in reaction to the current economy, and to the high demand for high capacity firearms, by releasing a special allotment of AR-24 and AR-24k pistols featuring a $50 dollar Economic Stimulus Package. The pistols are available in both standard grade and Combat Custom models featuring finely checkered frames and adjustable sights. The same pistols are available with 10 round magazines for our friends in those states that limit magazine capacity. Pistols available at a retail price for the Standard versions are $499.99 and Custom Combats for $581. The AR-24 is noted for its fine machine work, forged steel construction, and great fit to the hand. This isn't a coffee-cup pistol made of plastic, but a classic handgun of steel. Supplies are limited, and will be honored on a first-come-first-served basis. |
| The AR24 is an updated CZ75 clone, made in Turkey. Note that it shares NO common parts with CZ75s (except maybe a couple pins). While I personally think that the CZ75 is an outstanding pistol, with superior ergonomics, many people will be but off by its "classic" design. IMHO, it beats a 1911 in every regard, except that is not available in .45ACP. |

hmm I'm excited about this, i wanna get it!
couple reasons: 1. I like Armalite's builds 2. I've been looking for a 9mm plinker 3. I'm Turkish, and this is made in turkey, so its got a 'coooool' value for me :) 500 aint too bad I guess. altough I could get a used sig for that probably.... |

Oh ye of little faith.
A few tidbits. The AR-24 reflects influence of the fine CZ-75 and the wonderful SIG P-210. And yep, it's old-fashioned. Very traditional. Frames, slides, and barrels are machined from forgings, not cast or (fergawdsake) plastic. And they're beautifully machined. Frame edges, for instance, are finely machine beveled instead of left sharp or blured over with a buffing wheel. The main competition is cast. The slide is very elegant. Sights are large enough to be serviceable without being ridiculous, with luminus white dots in machined pockets. And it feels like part of your body. the grip shape and panels fill the hand great. A lot of work went into the pistol. The standard model has small grooves machined into the front of the grip. The Tactical Custom costs less than a hundred bucks more but comes equipped with adjustable sights and checkered front and backstraps. That checkering isn't the usual work machined into the frame; the frame is machined with raised surfaces that are then finely machine checkered. One of the most famous competitors has an embarrassingly cast checkering into the front strap. We prefer ours. The AR-24 is based on the Turkish Armed Forces basic handgun. It's not a parade ground handgun: Turkey maintains one of the largest Armys in NATO and borders Syria, Iraq, and Iran. It neighbors Georgia and Russian territory is as close as about 100 miles from Turkey. It still hosts American bases and performs logistic services for US Forces. The nation has conbatted an insurgency for years. These guys are tough. And so's the pistol. Over the years I'd accumulated a few 9mm handguns. Used em for travel, IPSC shooting, around the house, etc. Even had one of those famous but homely plastic framed guns. Except for the collector's guns, they're all gone. I've got AR-24s everyplace I use a handgun for security. I know what's inside these things and have staked my life and those of family and staff on them. Thanks for the posts guys. Mark |
