The top picture is brought to you by the miracle of modern movie special effects.
The chances that your flight will look like anything except the bottom picture, are less than one in one million. Other industries - INCLUDING HOSPITALS - would kill for that small of a failure rate. Bring extra cash for the little booze bottles and zone your way out as soon as you get off the ground. |

We have had Arfcommers die of cancer, heart attacks, murder, auto accidents, and suicide and rodent borne hantavirus disease.
I don't recall any from Aircraft accidents. And don't believe for a second that we haven't tried. If you die, make sure your next of kin lets us know, so at least you will get to be the first. Oh, and Dibs on all your <remaining> shit. eta- Damn you -Matt-

I don't know the exact numbers, but I am going to go out on a limb and say that your chances of dying a violent death going from point A to point B are, oh, at least 10,000 times higher if you DRIVE than if you FLY.
It is THE SAFEST mode of transportation in existence. Sit back, relax, and enjoy your flight. ETA: Look at your post number for this thread - "737" |

ETA: Look at your post number for this thread - "737" This is true if you are talking about airline flying. If you are flying in a small reciprocating aircraft, your odds get dramatically worse. You will be just fine. The odds of dying on the drive to or from the airport are honestly worse. |
I honestly don't mean to make it worse for you, however , I've recently been on TWO absolutely horrible Jetblue flights. We were all over the friggin airspace. Nothing against Jetblue. They blamed both bad flights on "air wake from a plane crossing in front of us". I don't know if that is possible, I guess it is. One pilot described it to us as a wake from a boat. Then, I said "oh, but if your on a boat and fall into the water, you'll proably live, at 34000 feet, not so much" . He laughed, I didn'tRum and coke works pretty well for me. Next time, I may leave out the coke |

Next time, I may leave out the coke I had the same - just a stright drop "air pocket" - my ass we ran over bigfoot @ 36000' - another time we had a strong fuel smell in the cabin around Jacksonville area, made a emergency landing @ a air force base (almost nose dive landing) and was told after we touched down that we were loosing fuel and very low no "air pockets" on the highway and AAA comes and bails me out if I run out of fuel - dunno if its worth the stress. |

I've never had anything even resembling scary happen on my many commercial flights. My mil. flights are another story though

Quoted: Of the two choices you've given, I'd go with 2. Seems slightly less painful.I have a sort of requirement to get to FL tomorrow for a engagement party, I have flown a million times and had two bad flights that made me swear it off - and have flown 15-20 times since them. I need to be on this plane and just mentally am freaking out - gonna be Jetblue JFK to FT Lauderdale FL what say you arfkom pilots? 1) http://inboc.files.wordpress.com/2007/02/planecrash2.jpg or 2) http://davidreport.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/02/jetblue.jpg |

All flying is pretty safe. In fact, it is so safe, that the stupid fucking media has to make a major event out of every plane crash, just because they are so rare. Sure, 9 people died in that mid-air over the Hudson River, and it was all we heard about for a week. In that time frame, how many car wrecks, drive-by shootings, hold-ups etc etc happened that we did not even get a summary of? Stop being a wimp, just get on the fucking plane, take out your man card and a few $$$ couple drinks, nap. FTW. Or, try the Big Grey Dog for a higher price, slower trip, and a lot more excitement!!!! (greyhound bus) It's called a reality check. Spend a week on a bus, planes get better FAST. IMHO YMMV |
| since you are going to be in the fort lauderdale area you need to go here http://www.theletub.com/, just make sure you bring cash, and it can take about an hour to get your food, but its well worth it |
