Bigger picture, please.

The way I see it, the .gov may be powerful, but they're not stupid.

They only post signs warning of the authorization of deadly force around seriously sensitive places, such as nuclear facilities. (Does NORAD have that?) Too risky and question-raising otherwise.

So, the way I figure, if they've got Area 51 bottled up like that, then there's something in there we're better off not knowing about, either from a national defense standpoint or a societal standpoint (can you imagine the impact of an alien verification on a world as paranoid as ours?)

I think it's strictly a base with some UNBELIEVABLE aircraft technology ot it! That's all.
Link Posted: 10/25/2004 1:45:31 PM EDT
Um.....am I the first one to notice that the "alien" in the second picture look like a telletubby?
Link Posted: 10/25/2004 1:46:04 PM EDT
By UNBELIEVABLE do you mean ALIEN?
Link Posted: 10/25/2004 1:46:17 PM EDT
Well, they used to test stealth aircraft there. It was of strategic advantage that our enemies not know of this new type of aircraft for as long as possible. That's why they had guards instructed to shoot to kill.

When a B-2 is sitting at an airbase, there is an imaginary line (in some cases, not imaginary) surrounding it. If you are foolish enough to cross it, you WILL get shot.

So, my guess is that they are working on even more secret aircraft.

Who, me?

Nah.

VERY creative stuff developed by Americans. That's all.

I'd LOVE to be proven wrong on that, but I doubt it.

Just an Air Force base.
Link Posted: 10/25/2004 1:49:23 PM EDT
Those who know will not say. Those who say do not know.

I'd bet money they are working on experiment aircraft - but who knows.

ETA...the pic you posted doesn't show the runways.

the actual front GATE? Or the front BORDER? I did the Area 51 trip a couple of years ago, went to the front border, and to the back gate. Pretty interesting when the guards rush up to come greet you

From what I've heard there is not much left there other than an air base. All the really secret stuff has been moved to the White Sands Missile Range Utah Launch Complex.

Here's some pics from my trip

3 of the BACK gate :

Edit: in the following picture, those "cammo dudes" had to RUSH up to the gate (I guess they weren't expecting us because they got to the gate seconds after we did, and were FLYING down that road). When they got there, they lept out of their vehicle, and hid behind whatever they could. You can kind of see one hiding behind the open vehicle door:

some of the front gate:
Edit: I just noticed the "cammo dudes" parked right on top of my head

front gate "cammo dudes" just up the road (inside the base border):

Of course there is. After the last 50 years when no airman 2nd class who pulled guard and had a bug up his ass about someting and then went crying to the New York Times, we can assume all the stories are true. Please... Spare me.

Did you ever have any trouble with the camo dudes?

I've heard they will not hesistate to make someone get out their vehicle and question them (and being EG&G security, I would NOT want to fuck with them!).

Those camo dudes might look like easy-going peeping toms in their pick-ups... but they got a lot of authority in them thar parts.

I've also heard that black Blackhawks with fake FAA registry #s fly over "intruder" vehicles also, hovering low the ground and flying around anyone that's too close to the base perimiter in their eyes.

As the Official United Nations Representative to the Reptoid Triumverate, I must inform you all that there are NO aliens at Areal 51.

<BR>

The Reptoids moved to Dulce, NM about 3 months ago. Their hay-fever was acting up at Area 51. Please send all Get Well cards to:

If you go there, do NOT stay at the Little Aleinn!

It is a flee bag trailer, and I was up half the night chasing mice off with my KA-BAR. I took pictures, but lost them when my hard disk crashed.

While I can't say FOR SURE this was there, the unveiling of this corresponded with a brief lull in restrictions around "the container"...you do the math,

Link Posted: 10/25/2004 5:14:49 PM EDT
Yes, it's true. The Air Force has been doing ballistic testing on Teletubbies.

HOWEVER, Area 51 is just a decoy to keep people from discovering Area 52.

The airstrip at Groom Lake is the LONGEST in the entire world. Of couse they are sill using it.

What for? My guess: a two stage orbtal recon system consisting of a high speed carrier aircraft and a small, possibly unmanned, vehicle capable of extra-atmospheric operations.

Gloftoe, could you rehost your pics. I'd like to see 'em. Thanks.
