I've done that before. You are "gun collecting" Dave Spaulding wrote about this in "Handgun Combatives" he said he tended to do the same thing and he got talking to some other guy he knew off a SWAT team or something and decided to simplify and just have one pistol set up the way he wanted and sell the rest to pay for getting ihs one pistol the way he wants. His buddy advocated owning a pistol, an AR, a shotgun and a scoped rifle and that's it, get them the way you want with good leather, optics triggers etc then spend money on training classes and ammo for practice.
I said I'd do the same thing, but failed miserably.
You know the funny thing is that there are pretty experienced military/leo guys who I have met off the board who own one or maybe two ARs.
I think this site does tend to induce the "gimmees" Years (decades) ago when I was into karate we wanted to learn new stuff and focused on training and imprevement, but here I think it's easy to fall into wanting to grab up new gear all the time and letting the acquisition of new equipment overshadow being able to use the eqiupment you have to it's fullest extent.
