The last time I learned "interesting stuff", it was pre-election and from our resident Communist. Needless to say, I posted here in disgust because it was almost as therapeutic as punching him in the face but didn't carry an assault charge. This time, the lesson was a lot more positive. The management company that handles the buildings in our office park sent out a "security bulletin" last Friday. Thursday afternoon, an employee from another building (not the Commie, unfortunately) pulled out of a parking spot and immediately started getting tailgated by a car full of teenage boys, flashing lights and honking. The guy gets out to "ask what's up" and the kids - drunk, allegedly - start talking shit and threaten to shoot him. He says they flashed a gun. Anyway, nothing further, the guy drives off and reports it, and that's that. Wiseass that I am, I forward the notice to my manager and ask if we're going to rescind our "no weapons" policy now because, otherwise, I guarantee that I (or my estate, if they have good aim) will sue the crap out of [big corporate owner's name] if I can't defend myself despite having a carry permit. A while later, she walked over to me and I figured I'd get another "Do you try to piss me off?" lecture. Instead, she quietly says, "Between you and me, if somebody pulls a gun on you, shoot the motherfuckers."  I counter with, "Can't shoot 'em if I don't have anything" (please don't look in the laptop bag) and she comes back with, "Hey, I'm your manager. I need to know that you're showing up and doing your job. I don't need to know what you keep in your car."Not exactly "Bring Your Carry Gun to Work Day" but still a nice tidbit. I've got a schmuck for a coworker but a pro-self-defense country girl for a boss! |
Sadly, I'm well aware of that but it would be the least of my worries if it ever came down do it. And no, she's not that hot (even if I was single) - but she is damned cool! |
