Ok, at my office, I have t1 access, stuff literally jumps onto a page. At home, I am in the sticks, with 33.6 on a good day. About those inline graphics in a thread. I am not sure how your code works, and I am not even sure if this is possible, but... Suggestions: 1. make the images that are posted appear as 'thumbnails' ? If the image is clicked, then it can open in a new window. 2. restrict the image size? ie. no matter how big your image is, it appears as only 200 pixels by 200, max. etc? 3. Add an option tothe profile, much like the option for auto-login: Allow images < or > Images as links. If the "images as links appears", then an { img } tag would not be active for that user. if ImageAsLinks = true then else activate img tag end if |

Quoted: Uhm... what are you talking about? [=)] Ok, it was [b]7:30[/b] in the morning, you expect me to be witty and coherent at 7:30 am? I can possbily setup an option in your profile to ignore all image links in posts. (Set to "On" and they appear as html links, set to "off" and they appear as normal images.) Now, THAT is what I am talking about. Turn images into links. This avoids downloading the image, conserves my bandwidth, etc. Now, can you put it into a cookie so that each computer I use (Home vs. Office) can recognize the setting? This wouldn't be high on my "ToDo" list. [=)] What? Are you going to go on record HERE and tell us ALL you are NOT at MY beck and call? Excuse me?!? You are mine, boy! Obey me.... please? Well, I guess I will just take my ball and go home. I have pigs to kill tomorrow, and it is past my bedtime. TIA TRG PS. Just out of curiosity, how much load does an inline image place on your server? If the image is hosted elsewhere (ie. not ar15.com) does it still add to the site load? |

Bandwidth is used by the place hosting the image, but there is some delay in loading the page itself as the AR page hands off the link to the image to your browser. (Images linked remotely will load based on your connection as your browser connects to those sites to download them!) Does that make sense? [=P] |
