The thread about the divorced dudes riding to AK from California reminded me of the great opportunity that I've been provided.  I have had the privilege of living in Fairbanks,AK for the last two years.  I love it here and plan on living here until I'm no more.  Attached are a few photos I've snapped over the last few years.  They are in no particular order....just randomly uploaded from various media sources.  Please enjoy!

This is a cloud formation I photographed from inside Denali Park.  The clouds were formed near Denali (the mountain).

Dall sheep my daughter and bumped into in the White Mountains.  This was a surreal experience.

These sheep were photographed near Healy, AK just north of Denali Park.

This is from a caribou hunt earlier this year in the White Mountains north of Fairbanks.  Helping a friend skin and quarter a bull caribou on the tundra.

Found this marker on top of a mountain in the white mountains.  There was no inscription, just a simple hand made cross propped up with stacked rocks.

Telling some lies around a warm fire near the Chatanika River.

Some of the country where I moose hunted earlier this fall.

My daughter being intimidated by those damn Dall sheep.

Fearless....

Winter grouse hunting.  It is difficult to manipulate a trigger quickly at -20.

Mushers headed up the frozen Chena River.

To warmer weather and arctic grayling!

Moose hunting near Healy, AK last year.

Winter time in the White Mountains.

A grizzer bear we saw in Denali park last year.

A bear track I cut while out hiking in the White Mountains two years ago.

Columbia Glacier calving into Prince William Sound.

KLR ride up the Steese Highway earlier this spring.

Same highway, but a year earlier.

KLR ride on the Steese Highway ending at the Yukon River earlier this spring.  It rained and snowed along they way.

Denali!  As seen from the Eielson visitor center inside the park.

More cool clouds near the mountain.

Another bear from the Denali trip earlier this fall.

The train headed north through Healy on its way to Fairbanks.

More lies by the fire but under the northern lights.

More aurora borealis while out moose hunting in the White Mountains.

And that's all folks!  Please enjoy the photos!

Also from Anchorage and still having family up there, every time I see photos I want to go back, again and again and again...

Alaska FTW.

Great shots!

I am happy where I ended up but get a little homesick when I see pictures like yours. You truly have to see it in person to get it.

Thank you for the share

Fellas, I don't know how you could move away from such a place.  I have told my wife I'm moving up here with or without her.  She was a beach girl (born in SC).  I'm not certain she has or ever will take to this cold weather :)!

I spent a year at Galena back in 82.  It is one of the highlights of my life.  Must have shot 600 feet of ektachrome. Never did get a pic of the lights when they were running. Either too drunk or out of film.

Awesome pics! Thanks!

My brother paid a pretty penny to shoot a Dall up in northern BC, so I'll have to show him the pics of walking up to a herd.

Alaska is probably my favorite place on earth. Just got to spend a couple weeks up there fishing. Caught a bunch of Salmon and Halibut but the highlight was my personal best Ling Cod. It was a beast!

I love Florida but I will live in Alaska very soon.

Dude, I've been there.  I nearly passed out on the Chena River while photographing them my first year up here.  I walked down to the river from my house, had a belly full of beer, my snow suite on, and was pretty mesmerized by the lights.  I plopped down in the snow and laid back on that frozen river to watch the lights (I think I even had two more beers in my inside coat pocket).....I could feel my head buzzing and was getting very comfortable and sleepy.  That little voice in the back of my head told me to get up off my ass and get inside or someone will find me frozen stiff the next morning.  Thankfully that was one of the few times I listened to that voice.  Hence I don't drink and chase the lights anymore.

Sir that is a custom "mayfield dairy" milk crate attached with heavy duty zip ties.  I suspect it was pilfered from a golden gallon convenience store somewhere in southeast TN.  That type gear can't be had "just anywhere" :)

I would think they would be visible from Oregon sometimes. I used to see them from northern NY.

I have never been on the Kenai but if I could I would move to PoW in a heartbeat. The wife won't have it.

Spent 2011 through 2013 all over Alaska for work.  After my wife visited in 2013, she told me to transfer for a permanent job as soon as possible.  I figure I will be in the MATSU within the next 24 months.

If it was up to me, i would live in Fairbanks but the wife prefers the Anchorage area.  Oh how I look forward to getting back to Alaska.  :)
