Other than battery life (8 years vs 3), what does the CompM4 do better than the PRO? Fit and finish?

Comparing them it's hard to see the difference in specs.

For me, the difference is I don't own a PRO, I will have two more M4s's before it's all said and done.

Depending what you're using it for.  If you plan on pairing it with a magnifier id go with the m4.  If you are fairly new to red dots or optics in general, the pro will be a very good starting point.  They are fairly similar.

So slightly better glass?

I own multiples of both. For the average shooter there is no difference.

I had my Comp M4 before there was a PRO.  I would certainly never switch.  Since then I got a couple T-1s.  I can't see being in the market for another CompM4 or a PRO but if I were I would probably get another CompM4.  It's not that much more.  I would get more T-1s (or T-2s) over a PRO I think.

The glass used to be significantly darker on the PROs.  The recent production ones are much better.

OK, but not enough to decide it for me.  It's not enough to really influence the decision for me.  I have a TA-33 and I'd get one of those over a PRO or CompM4.  The only catch there is NV compatibility which might make me choose a CompM4 but it would be something like that that decided it not a few hundred dollars.  And there's still the T-1 or T-2 that address that issue.

I'd get the PRO every time. I was issued a CompM4 and hated it. Bulky and heavy as a rock.

I like the integral mount on my M4, but for most people I would suggest save some money and get the PRO.  When I'm shooting, I see no practical different in the use of the M4 to the PRO.

Wow, 13.2 oz vs 11.6 oz is that big a deal?

Have you tried the T-1 or H-1 Micro?  They are even lighter.

The biggest difference is about $350.

As an owner of a T-2 and a PRO, I can tell absolutely no difference aside from size.  Given that the T-2 and the M4 are supposedly the best Aimpoint has to offer, I would ASSume there's likely no discernible difference between the M4 and the PRO.

Maybe it was the bulk of the M4/M4S that I remember the most but I do remember it being heavier. Almost 2 ounces is noticeable IME.

Mine definitely feels clunky, especially compared to the T1.  I guess I thought the PRO was similar in that regard.

My TA33 blows my CompM4 away in term of weight and bulk (and performance).  Specs say 7.7 oz, it's sleeker/more compact, and it's 3X.  I love the thing.  It's just not NVG compatible.  For that I really like the little T-1.  4.1 oz and very tiny.

I understand what you're saying though...every ounce counts.

I went PRO I could not justify the price based on battery life.  3 years is a long time and batteries are cheap compared to the cost difference.  I also got a Larue QD mount so I can move it around on different rifles.  I liked my M4 that was issued to me but I would rather put the difference in cost toward something else...... Ammo mags trigger etc etc....

CompM4 will never rotate in its mount I since the housing is essentially part of the mount as well.
