I just got my new Aimpoint PRO yesterday, put the battery in it (as instructed) and turned the rotary switch to see if it works.  A faint dot appeared on click # 6.  The switch has 9 total clicks (settings) so there are only 4 intensity settings (click # 6, 7, 8, & 9) possible on the site.

I'm surprised that the dot doesn't turn on sooner than the 6th click and offer at least 2-3 more intensities.  For you guys who have the Aimpoint PRO (or other Aimpoints) is that your experience or do I have a faulty switch?

There's a reason it's "night vision compatible."

The first few settings are virtually invisible to the naked eye, but put your PVS 14 on and look through it.

You're welcome.

Those clicks you can't see are for NVG use.

ETA: beat by 22 seconds

Yep mine is the same. Set up for NV.

The other clicks are for the cool kids.

It should have 4 night vision settings and 6 normal settings. Click 5 was probably only bright enough for you to see in the dark.

Thanks, everybody, at least to the "friendly" ones!  Yes, I'm a rookie - no apologies - you gotta start somewhere and that's what these forums are all about IMO.  My experience is in pistol competition and I don't have much of that.  I'm retired and having good, safe fun!  Thanks again!

I don't know if anyone has mentioned yet but  that the first few clicks are for NV use

Seriously, your PRO will be quite visible in full sunlight at the upper settings

There's a bundle of paper in the box. It's called a manual. Everything you need is in that bundle of paper. If you don't want to read it, set it to 7 and leave it.

Easy does it, Fudd.  Maybe you should revisit the "Code of Conduct" for the site, specifically:

6) Attacking or insulting a person in an effort to elicit a negative response. You have a right to disagree, but please do so in a respectful manner.

This is GD.  If you want polite responses, you need to stick to the technical side of ARFCom.  :)

Whelp have fun in GD... there is a whole technical portion of the sight that will get you plenty of BS but no guff.

For the record there are only 4 NVD settings and six daytime/visual settings.  Try again, turn off the lights and set it to 5 and realize I am a wizard.

In all seriousness, this. This is General Discussion, liken it to the Mos Eisley cantina of the site. The technical forums are heavily moderated to make sure that they stay technical discussions.

So, next steps, mount it up, take it to the range, take pictures and post a review in the optics section. Congrats on the new sight, use it in good health!

You bought a great optic, and I'm sure you're gonna get years of use from it.

Be sure to post this kind of thing in the AR HTF from now on to save from being roasted in GD.

Too bad there isn't an on-off button, so you can leave the dial on one setting instead of having to click up and down and find your setting each time you turn it on.

Why did Aimpoint make a discount optic that was NV capable?

So you could apply the savings to upgrade from a refurb PVS to a NIB.

Not from what I could see.   The manuals sent were for other models.  Same on the Aimpoint site.   Downloads for the PRO were actually other models.

I've used Aimpoints before and have EO Techs, ACOGs, Accupoints, and others.   So, it isn't a user issue.    It is just screwy documentation.

Since we''re talking about the PRO, what mounts do you use  on it and your NOD?  I am using the .mil style mount for the 14, and the PRO is on the Aimpoint until after Christmas...the 14 sits a good bit higher and no work

I hate all you bastards, I missed the cyber Monday deals.  I'm going to get one for my M1A Scout.

As for the off button guys, no need for one.  Even my ANCIENT Aimpoint 5000 with the single watch battery will last for a year on the highest setting.
