Who else plays? I just got into it as a time kill as I get over a failed relationship (Holy shit, I have free time!)
What's your favorite aircraft? Any tips for someone who is still relatively new? I spend the most of my time in a P-51D with bombs and rockets. That or an F6F if I'm flying from a carrier. My kills/deaths are about 1:1 right now and getting better by the day. I'm starting to play as a clean fighter more than a bomb truck as I get better at it. Lessons I've learned so far: If they are above you and in a better performing plane... you're fucked. (unless they are a newb and slam into the ground when they dive on you) Attacking a bomber from the rear? Yeah, great way to get fucked.. Taking off from a carrier that is turning? Watching the other players slam into the tower of fall off the left side is fun  (yeah... the other players... never happens to me)
Don't dive into a furball where you are outnumbered and then bleed all of our energy by turning. You'll get gang fucked. Don't try to fly over an enemy fleet under 15K. Eventually, the flak will find you (or your radiator/oil) Shooting outside of 400 meters/yards is typically a waste of ammo (unless they are slowly climbing in a straight line) For those that don't play its primarily a WW2 combat flight sim, but you can use tanks and boats as well. You can play online and have land, sea, and air elements in the same fight. Some pics of the game for those not familiar:

il2clodo when they fix the bugs Only ONLINE of course.. Back in 200X my best streak was a VEF campaign. With more than 100 missions and 150 airkills without dying... But I had a great wingman and squadron with me (FZG, FZG_Immel was my nickname) |

I play. My screenname is "Woblin" and I'm below average in fighters, about average in bombers, and above average in ground vehicles.
As far as fighters go, I prefer the 190-A8, the P-51D, and the N1K in that order. The B-24 is my bomber of choice. For tanks that cost no perk points, I use the Panzer H model and if I need to upgrade for a specific battle I'll typically choose the Panther. |

I have been playing since 2000
Play on the Knights under the name Lion I mostly fly the F4U-1D, F4U-4, B-25H and the B-24J. I actually shot down two ME-262's in the tail gun of a B-24J this morning. Two Noob pilots who were stupid enough to come straight in up behind me and just sit there at 500 yards. I will upload some gamecam videos when I get home tonight

I'm interested in trying an online flight sim, but have no idea what's even out there anymore.
Is Aces High it? Or are there other FS with an active player base still around? I played one, once, about a decade ago at a friends house, but that's it for online. Got a lot of hours in various sims off line though. |

I used to play a lot as a member of the "SE's". I stopped when my last computer bit the dust. I like to fly JUGS and C-Hogs and, from time to time, grab a tank and camp a spawn point. Much fun.

I used to play the original Warbirds back in the day (i think i got in around 0.89). Then the developers all split with the one guy making Aces High qnd the others building WWII Online. I haven't played any flight sims in prob 10 years so it'd be Ugly starting over again bit I did just build a gaming rig so who knows. |

So I was defending one of out Vehicle bases and had just gotten done killing a panzer IV. Unfortunately as we traded the last shots he hit my turret and disabled my main gun and my pintle mounted .50cal. I decided to run back to base to land my kills but on the way I noticed a enemy F4U Corsair gliding into the field a little ways away from me. I decided to make a small detour and luckily remembered to turn on my screen capture camera
