Guys - just throwing out to share what happened to me this morning. Throwaway account for obvious reasons. It looks like ATF is ramping up door to door solvent trap confiscation. I'm not going to go into details of what I own, but everything is 100% legal and by the books.. at least as of last year when registering, purchasing, and manufacturing. I've been in contact with a few lawyers at this point along with the FPC, GOA, and prominent 2A YouTubers. There isn't much I can do besides wait and see if they come back with a warrant or if they fuck off. Here's a summary of the exchange that occurred this morning around 11:30 AM in Charlotte County, Florida. First, an agent identified himself and displayed his credentials/badge. There were two agents but I really only spoke with one. Agent stated he is here for a (singular) solvent trap I had ordered and asked if I still had it. I responded "I'm not going to answer any questions". Agent stated they are there to recover them because they are being used as suppressors. I responded with the question "do you have a warrant?" to which the agent responded he does not. Agent said I can sign a form indicating I no longer have a solvent trap to which I replied "I'm not going to sign anything". Agent stated "you don't have to sign anything but if you're caught with it we'll prosecute you federally. You're going to be on our radar now. We appreciate the cooperation. We just came here to pick it up and have it destroyed." I remained silent. ... |

... Agent states "We know what you're using it for. I mean, you bought a jig with it for your AR15." to which I replied "I don't know what you're talking about". Agent states "This isn't the first time we've done this." and I replied "If you want anything more you'll need to come back with a warrant." After this, the conversation went downhill when they said "they're just doing their jobs" to which I responded with something like "your job is to confiscate guns from law abiding citizens and erode the second amendment". They didn't like that at all and said something like "you've been watching too many videos online and that they save lives every day" to which I responded "like at Ruby Ridge and Waco?". Yep.. I know I should have shut up.. but I really don't like these guys. Anyway - just a heads up to solvent trap owners. Keep your mouth shut. Don't admit to owning anything, don't sign anything, and call a lawyer. |

What the fuck does this mean? Agent states "We know what you're using it for. I mean, you bought a jig with it for your AR15." What jig is used with a solvent trap for an AR? I've heard of jigs to complete 80% receivers, but not solvent traps. Or are they saying he bought a receiver jig to finish an 80% in the same transaction as the solvent trap? Isn't the solvent trap's purpose to hold the solvents that get poured down the barrel as you clean your firearm? So who would be buying a solvent trap if they didn't have firearms? Whatever. All possession laws are bullshit and unconstitutional. No victim to begin with, and gov has zero legitimate authority over firearms and firearm parts. |

Gotta admit, I never understood buying a solvent trap and wanting to use it as a silencer. That one always seemed like someone was begging for trouble. Buy one for cheap and submitting a form 1 makes perfect sense. The FRT trigger was legal and not an issue at the time, so I completely get that one. I wanted one, but knew that would eventually get shut down so I abstained despite wanting one. I learned after having to lose money on a bumpstock that I wasn’t throwing $400+ in the toilet. The solvent trap thing never made sense to me though. If this story is true, I don’t think you should’ve thrown a jab at them and just let it be. But I gotta admit I smiled and liked it. Seems it would make more sense to convey that you respect law enforcement but also respect the constitution and your rights granted within it and don’t want to answer any questions. If they get a warrant they are welcome to return and you will fully cooperate with them & if they need anything in the meantime they can contact your lawyer. Not sure I’d purposely poke the bear. But I also think we have a duty to make them go through the legal system instead of enabling their infringement on our rights. So I completely agree with that. |

If you do possess anything like that, you’d be doing yourself a great service by destroying it completely, immediately. By which I mean reducing it to filings with a belt sander or angle grinder. Because there is a very good chance they left your place and typed up an affidavit for a search warrant. Clearly they know what you ordered, they know it was delivered, and you refused to account for it. A reasonable person could conclude that you still have it. But it is up to you. I’m not the one on the verge of felony charges. |

Not sure if I believe this story, but maybe. The part about them justifying the visit doesn’t seem typical at all. If it is true, I’d never challenge a person to comeback with a warrant if they might actually come back with a warrant. You probably could’ve just said, “have a nice day,” and closed the door. |

I don't know why they even showed up considering the theoretical solvent trap is not longer a solvent trap. It is a registered silencer that was built after doing the proper paperwork. Everything was done legally. |
