APC NC Small Boat Training Class JULY 22nd > General Discussion

July 22nd at 10am, we will be hosting a small boat training day lead by our very own @FreeFallRet.

Be sure to bring lunch and a change of clothes because we will be getting wet.

Same location as a lot of our other classes in the Uwharrie National Forest.

The address is 398 Kings Mountain Rd Troy, NC 28127

We’re looking forward to seeing a bunch of old and new faces!

Come enjoy the fun, and it's free.

some key things:

bring a change of clothes, your gonna be wet.

Get a good water proof bag for your ruck, inside your waterproof bag put your items in double bagged ziplock bags.

Your ruck will get wet, also you will need one large snap link attached to your ruck.

This is to sucker your ruck in the boat for capsizing drills AKA flipping the boat upside down and then right side up (see pics).

Life vests are provided.

Electronics should be left in the vehicle during the training, parking lot is a 2 min walk.

You need to be a decent swimmer, you will have a life vest for training, but a prerequisite is swimming 50m in boots and pants/shirt.

Its easy and we have had folks 60yrs old complete this task. Also the area has toilet facilities on site.

This is a rain or shine event, short of having lightening in the area we will train.

However their is a covered area for the class on the boat etc.

Students will be required to sign a APC liability waiver to conduct training.

Training should be completed by 5-6pm Saturday.

Yea I had to change the date as I will be at Camp Butner from 7-15 July with Civil Air Patrol.

Running the ranges in the morning and being cadre the rest of the time.
