Anybody currently or previously been stationed at Spangdahlem AB Germany? What can you tell me about it? |
It's been a billion years since I've been there. I was stationed at Zweibruecken which no longer exists as a base. It's North of Ramstein. Nice country, it's closer to the Trier which was probably my favorite city to visit. I had a lot of friends there. Way back then Spang had the Wild Weasel mission with F-4Gs. If they have the same mission, it'll be F-16s now, I would guess. Anyway, the Rheinland Pfalz is a great area to be stationed in. I hope you get a chance to travel. Good Luck! |
| Stationed there 95-99 with the now defunct 53rd FS. I lived off base in Binsfeld. I would have never left the USAF if I could have stayed there. I absolutely loved Germany. Trier is a hop skip and jump away. Bitburg is fun for a little town, the Irish pub is the most common hanging out place. Duddledorf on the B50 on the way to Bitburg is where Patton rolled his tanks through the arch ways. |
