I have a couple of rooms that share an air duct from the AC. My problem is that the flow is weak since the ductwork comes off the side of the unit and the problem gets compounded due to the fact that the duct is split between 2 rooms. These also happen to be the kiddo's room and the one the way baby's room so I want them as confortable as possible. I am planning to move it to the back of the unit which gets stronger flow, however here is my issue. The side duct is a bit smaller than the one in the rear. How do I correctly "stepdown" the existing opening in the unit to accommodate the smaller ductwork? Anyone have an easier/better idea? |
| Is there a baffle in the duct where it comes out of the air handler? They can be very hard to see but it will be a little metal tab that sticks up out of the duct wrap. Note where it is before you start to turn it and turn it 90 degrees and see if it helps the flow. Be carefull because they are pretty flimsy and will break off. As far as the rest I don't know. SS |

You can get a flexable transistion to step down or up in size of duct work, A better alternative is to switch the speed on the blower motor. The motor should have three speeds, two wires not being used, they are usually wired in using low so the other two are med and high. I cant remember off the top of my head but I am thinking wire colors are yellow, blue, and red. These dont include line voltage in which will be black. Dont touch the shiny silver thing called a capacitor, it does bite. This is if the damper is open like stated above. Make sure filter and a-coil is clean, you will see a huge difference. |
