[ARCHIVED THREAD] - 2-year old XBox console.

My friend is going to sell me a 2 yrs old XBox system. It includs 2 DVD games, 1 DVD remote controller and 2 game controller. The price is $150. Since the console is about 2 yrs old, I am wondering if any difference from a new console for the performace concern.

Make sure you get the little piece that plugs in for the remote to work...Not sure if the 'guts' are updated or not.

About a year ago my brother was blathering something about the laser in the first Xboxs not working so well or something. I wasn't really listening but he got a new Xbox and I got one for free

Anyway he got his the day it came out.

ETA: 2 year old Xbox for $150? Sounds like your friend is trying to rip you off.

Yes, that's too much money. Even counting the extras.

The laser in the DVD player has been upgraded several times over the years. The first ones were very prone to partial or total failure. The drives can't be fixed, only replaced.

I'd pass.

New ones are $150 with no games, no remote, and only one controller. $100 might be better, offer him less and see what he says. The PS2's did have a laser issue, but is was fixable by anyone willing to try.

$150 sounds high, especially since a brand-new unit goes for that price.

Kinda steep. Id talk him down Id go for it for around $100 myself if you really want it for no more then $120. Thats like 3 Mosins or a case of ammo.
