It's 1920, you're back from France, you have a job, haven't made up yer mind between your high school sweetheart that waited for you and the French gal you're still writing to - what heat are you packing?  What's your BUG?  What's your truck gun?  What's on your dresser for burglars?

You've got no red dots, no LASERs, no WML, no NV, no thermal, and any armor is steel plate.  Significantly, penicillin hasn't been discovered yet, meaning miscreants really don't want to get shot w/ even a .22 Short.

1920, that's after 1911 right?

What the hell, I'm with Kiju. C96 Mauser in a drop-leg holster with tall boots.

1911 across the board. If it is good enough for Magnum, it is good enough for me.

I'll probably give the same answer through around 2016.

I just got back from the war to end all wars and I know what everyone over there has heard about firearm effectiveness.

Truck Gun is a 12 gauge trench shotgun.  Because they can clear a whole trench of people and nobody wants to mess with that big hole pointing at them.

My carry gun is a Colt .45, because everyone knows that the .45 will knock them on their ass while the .38 will just piss them off.

I might even have a .25 for my suit pocket.

My bedroom gun will probably be the same .45 Colt, while if I was married I would have a .32 revolver for the "Little Lady".

A Colt 1911 on the hip, Colt 1908 .25 as BUG, Winchester '94 .30-30 Carbine in the truck. The 1911 would go on the dresser for burglars.

I wouldn't be able to imagine something as absurd as the NFA coming 14 years later.

[EDIT] Crazy, I almost made my truck gun the Winchester '97 12-gauge as well, which would make my entire arsenal a dupe!

Ok, points for inventing the Technical on your Model T pickup, what are you carrying under your suit coat every day as you walk to work from the streetcar stop?

My great grandfather came back  and as far as I know he only carried a rifle when he needed one. Of coursae he lived in a very rural area. Went back to share cropping cotton till the depression and the land was bought by the federal government for $1/acre.

My Great Grandfather still had his trench raiding web gear.
complete with 2 1911's, his raiding knife and a club. he also had necklaces and wristbands made out of expended brass and what appear to be strips of strips of human flesh in the place of hair scalping. one of the pieces that I saw looked to have a mark of a tattoo or powder burn.

he kept all that in a homemade lockbox, with his WWI maps, Army Newspapers with his name for being wounded and his french porn pics.

his daily carry was a 1903 in .380 I think. they said he almost always had it on him.
he also was known to carry a Colt Single action 44-40 and a Colt double action .38. the single action he carried with the loading gate open, inside the waistband.

he was very fond of shotguns. he had 2-3 winchester 97's - 2 long hunting barrels and 1 riot gun, along with a couple of double barrels. 1 long barreled 10 and a short barreled 10. my mother said he usually had a double gun in his hand when he did walkabouts and had it in the truck when he went into town.

I'm going to pick any one of these, cause it he thought they were good enough for him- they are good enough for me.

WWI vets were not to be messed with. atleast in Eastern Ok.
they were known to be very quick with violence and also known to be very, very clickish. you piss of one, the rest fill in.

PTSD was a monster to these men. they could go from family men at the kitchen table to savage in milliseconds.

1911, same as I carried in 1980. Maybe 2. I'm big enough that I can CC one pretty easily. There weren't many true pocket pistols back then, so maybe a Baby Browning or a set of knucks. Maybe an Iver Johnson .38, they were pretty small.

Truck gun would be a '17 Enfield. There'd be a trench broom leaning up against the headboard of the bed.
