The obligatory, self-congratulating, 1000th post.

Well, I've been posting here for about a year and a half now. I have gotten a lot of insight.

Got an SAR-2 from a board member. Thanks again, GrinNBarrett.

I saved my taxpayers some money and shared the wealth with fellow AR enthusiasts by sharing upcoming purchases with the board and getting good prices.

I got lots of useful (and some useless) information about various weapons systems, some which may have even helped save my butt on a couple of occasions (mainly from not doing anything stupid).

I have also noticed some disturbing things. A large number of my fellow board members are wrapped a little too tight.

Cop-hating gets to me, sometimes. I will be the first to admit that there are "bad" cops and unprofessional ones out there, and public oversight and accountability are necessary for the system to work. BUT, the system does work. Hating cops is just pointless. I don't hate the criminals I arrest (and some of them deserve it). Save your breath and lower your blood pressure. You'll give your self an anyuerism. Most cops in this country (the feds included) are dedicated professionals who do their often crappy jobs to make a difference in their communities and to serve their fellow citizens. We damned sure aren't in it for the pay. I go out of my way to be friendly and helpful to fellow gun owners. There are some people (maybe even board members) who probably shot their first machine gun because I happened to be at the range and they asked a question. There are other people (probably even board members) who got their Form 4s signed a little quicker and hassle free because they came through my office and I felt it was a duty to help out (P.S. try and get me a pay raise so I can join that club).

Another thing, cops by and large do not support gun control and are not going to be going door-to-door collecting guns. They'd have to stop at my house, first. I know there are folks who want to ban all guns, and would if they could. Luckily, there are still enough rational politicians to realize that doing that would lead to a civil war. Be vigilant, but for God's sake, quit over-reacting. Enough said about that.

I have seen a surprising amount of racist sentiment and anti-semitism around here. Some of you folks need to be a little more quick to knock these guys down when they pop their ugly heads up. They make gun owners look bad and make it harder for us to get our point across.

Flame away, and thanks for the entertainment.
