I bet Mr Trump wishes he wasn't so cheap over the hush money paid to the whores, pennies in his piggybank in the scheme of things. Of course the only thing Mr Trump loves better than paying off whores is paying off whores from somebody else's piggybanks. |

RUDY! RUDY! RUDY! I don't think it was the political donations (that's not exactly uncommon) - it was the fact that Trump "interviewed" him for the job - which is highly unusual. It was the right thing for him to do to even avoid the appearance of conflict. |

Copy of the Cohen plea agreement: https://www.lawfareblog.com/document-michael-cohen-plea-agreement Counts 1-5: Tax evasion. Count 6: False statements to a financial institution in connection with a credit decision. Count 7: Willfully causing an unlawful corporate contribution ( 52 USC 30118(a) ) Count 8: Excessive campaign contribution. He agrees to file amended returns, pay what he owes, and in return will got to jail for 3-5 years (depending). Tell me again how Stormy Daniels is connected to any of that (specifically counts 7 and 8)? Unless, of course, you want to suggest paying someone to shut up (i.e. spike a story) is a violation as defined under 52 U.S. Code 30101 (8)(a).

Top men! If you want to use tax evasion to go after someone, D.C. is a target rich environment. Except democrats generally get to amend returns whereas people connected to Republicans get to do that just before they go to jail. |

They're going to claim spiking the story was a thing of value and therefore an illegal campaign contribution Oh, silly me, that assumes the law is applied equally.

New SDNY precedent so campaigns and money passing through there should watch out! Cohen gets taken down because A) he was suing Fusion/Buzzfeed over his name appearing in the Steele Dossier regarding his travel to Prague which he didn't do and B) His compilation of dirt on NY politicians and possibly others. Schneiderman's ouster is directly related to Cohen IMO. Forcing Fusion/DNC/Buzzfeed to provide that information would be a disaster since it would rely on leaks from the CIA/FBI and direct access to raw FISA 702 data. Now Cohen is a convicted felon who has to shut up about his case and the dirt he was sitting on (which is now in DOJ's hands...well has been). Political and judicial theater. I already hated the federal court system and this continues to prove my point. |

Quoted: Who cares if they have a recording, there's no violation of CF laws by this payment; the violation occurred by Cohen not reporting it properly. |

After decades of backroom payoffs to corrupt NYC and NYS Democrat Politicians pay to play for projects, I'm disappointed at amateur hour. Maybe that's his defense "I was never a politician, this was just how I dealt with the democrats in office having influence over my real estate projects, just pay 'em off. Matter of fact, I gave ol' Cryin' Chuck $5million for...." |

Listen to the plea allocution, he said something like he was working at the request of a presidential candidate (something like that) The connection to Trump: "Corporation 1" (not "campaign 1" but "corporation 1") was trying to shut women up who could release negative stories about Trump and started negotiating with "woman-1" to buy her silence. When that deal fell through, Cohen got involved and created a LLC and used that LLC to wire six figures to spike a story that would impact a federal election. Cohen then asked "corporation 1" to reimburse his "election expenses" "from the trust" while listing the remittances as "legal expenses" and was paid over a 12 month period (at or around $420,000). So, for starters, they are saying that pay off was a campaign contribution and secondly the amount (~$130,000) was in excess of the $25,000 annual limits. So I would assume when they are done with Cohen, they are going to move on to the executive(s) at the company in question, the members of Trump's campaign who had the idea or pushed the idea, and then use that to claw their way up to Trump. This would be funny if it wasn't so serious.

Quoted: I'm here asking what does any of this have to do with Russia meddling in the 2016 election? Isn't that the scope of the whole Mueller investigation? |
|
Quoted: Daily Mail is a tabloid. Cohen has no credibility - nothing he says matters. Trump is still president & he will win again in 2020... His former campaign manager found guilty on eight counts. His former lawyer found guilty on eight counts. That same lawyer today implicated Trump as a co-conspirator in a federal crime. In other words, I don't believe all of this is going to end the way you think it will. |
