The "interest" thing is extremely malleable. I'd bet dollars to donuts that interest in military service shot up like a rocket after 9/11. There's less interest these days because war isn't at the forefront of the culture right now. |

| I was waiting in a long checkout line at a garden store yesterday. There were lots of boomer women buying flowers for the fronts steps and other stuff, and the line kept getting longer and longer because there was only one cashier: an elderly senior citizen. She did a good job keeping things moving as fast as she could, but it was a losing battle. It was quite an image: store packed full of customers, a bunch of empty cash register stations, and just one older cashier. |

I wonder how many of that 23% are being discouraged by their GWOT-vet relatives? I just spent last week holding a family member's hand while she died of cancer that even the VA agrees is connected to her Iraq service (burn pits). I don't want to subject my daughter to that. |

Let me get this straight We have people who say being a patriot is racist/misogynist etc…. We have areas needing safe spaces if people say things you don’t agree with. We have standards being cut because everyone needs a trophy (equity) Add in the military and government going after conservatives which was the base for military applicants Then you have the potential of WW3 under an inept leader that would leave you stranded like he did with Afghanistan withdrawal. Geeze, I really don’t know why people aren’t jumping at the chance |
