So not going to lie, this X1E kind of looks like what most of us on the higher end of FDM printers have kind of been waiting for from Bambu. At $2.5k other than size I foresee this giving printers like the XL a good run for it's money. Most of those things we liked to complain about on the X1 have been addressed. The Volumetric speed is 1/3rd of the XL and tool head changer is far, far, far superior to a simple AMS system. Not even close to the same. The QIDI X Max 3 is a closer comparison. And the Qidi is less than half the cost, and also has triple to flow rate. This is the answer to a question not even asked, except maybe the Bambu Bois that think they have some next level machine while burying their head in the sand on obvious limitations.

You have to remember price point though, your talking a 2 head XL vs a single head 5 filament X1E. I mean, the new "upgraded" hot end will likely do a bit better on the volumetric, but still doubt it will compete. That tool head vs the AMS is kind of debatable.  Gives you alot more flexibility, but also a lot more point of failure. For a lot of things like multi color or multi material the AMS is going to be just as good. |
| At this price point and specs I dont see it being too popular. It seems like its trying to fit into maybe a print farm space (with emphasis on security and no cloud connectivity being required) and ease of use, but I think Prusa fits the bill better in those spaces price wise. Also i dont really see a print farm really using an AMS and the print bed size is only slightly larger than say an ender 3 (220x220 vs 256x256). For around the same cost you can get a Prusa Xl with 2 toolheads (you would need to do some of the building) and the Prusa will be much faster and much larger print bed size (360x360 vs 256x256). I am saying this owning a P1S (and 3 vorons). |
