You can only use 9mm and up for the pistol right? Which would make my 380 out of the question.

Rules say .355 caliber.  In theory, the steel is calibrated for 9mm.  Depending on the match, you still need to make minor power factor, which is a combo of bullet weight, speed in fps/ 1000 => 126

You are better off in the long run with a 9mm or above.  You also need holsters, mag holders, etc which might be easier in a higher caliber.

Minimum is 9mm.  heavy metal is 9-45.

What type of .380 do you have that you would actually want to use for 3 gun?  Most have such limited capacity you wouldn't be able to carry enough mags to finish a course of fire.  Not to mention a good holster, mag pouches etc.

If you are looking for a match to get some timer time behind you might try IDPA or steel Challenge at your local club.  Out local clubs will let you run just about anything as long as its safe.  Some may not let you shoot for score but you can get an idea of your performance.

You would want at least a 9mm. My local club does have BUG (Back Up Gun) shoots every once in a while. You could use the 380 for that.
