I want to cast lead boolits for my Blackout.

The subs will be 230g may follow a more detailed blend, but can I use pure wheel weights, no blending of lead

The supers will be 130g-----can I/ should I use pure wheel weights for extra hardness?

I'm not an expert casting for rifles, but I think WW are usually fine.  THey are pretty much the standard from what I can tell.  I'll use that for my 308 soon.

wheel weights work pretty well as is, if you want to make them a tad harder, you can quench them in water as soon as the come out of the mould

You might want to check over in CastBoolits.com
And/or get the Lyman 'Cast Bullet Handbook'

From what I have read, you will want to blend pure wheelweights with at least a bit of tin.
But there are a lot of factors involved.

Straight WW's will be fine.

Add Linotype if the  wheel weights  lead the barrel.

That chart is incorrect. The wheel weight hardness part is anyway.

My wheelweight ingots are much harder than my 20/1 mix ingots. When shot from my 45/70 Guide Gun the 20/1 bullets mushroom (gas check is attached) and the Wheelweight bullets deform very little (some gas checks are missing). That tells me my wheel weight bullets are much harder

Fit is king.

I shot some ACWW's out of my .358 Win up to >2000 fps and they held up just fine.

Shot these groups off the back of my pickup bed @ 100 yards:

Fit is king, followed by lube, then alloy.

"Fit is king" very true. Which is one reason why the Blackout chamber is cut larger at neck than the .300 Whisper. I feel that the case neck sizer button needs to be machined larger for cast bullets. So that cases will accept a .001" larger diameter cast bullet without crushing bullet diameter of softer cast bullets.

I cast mine and drop them straight into COLD water, never had an issue in slow rifles, in the faster calibers I had to gascheck them

you should be fine for subs, just like casting pistol lead
