Someone please correct me if I am wrong. Would make it even better if you were actually able to get 4 shells in the mag. |

I even played with the idea of duct taping a piece of Styrofoam to the stock for a recoil pad and spraying it in a couple of places with Bondo colored paint for the true Bubba effect, but I couldn't bring myself to do that to a perfectly good weapon.I'll probably go the Magpul route like yours, or maybe the Hogue stock. Filed my first e-form on January the 5th, came back approved on February the 16th.
Started off as a 30" Barrel J. Stevens side by side. 
Now she's sporting 11.5" barrels.

I wrestled with how to fill the countersunk grip screw hole for a while but finally decided on a 2 part epoxy with some of the sawdust I made from cutting the stock down mixed in. It worked but dried a few shades darker than the wood. Oh well, close enough I suppose. It was a fun project! Ever since Mad Max I've always wanted a shorty shotty!

I've shot it quite a bit and it's held up fine. |

Here's my Wilson Arms Co., Witness Protection Remington 870 Magnum AOW. I purchased this direct from the maker Jim Wilson. Story he told me was he was contracted to build 500 of these for the U.S. Marshals Office. He ended up building 3 "extras" or "contract overruns". He kept one and sold the other two to "civilians" like myself.
Paid $500.00 plus five dollars for the NFA transfer stamp. Shoots fine, doesn't get much use but it's just plain fun shooting hand thrown clay birds. I bought it around 1987. It came from Wilson with the modified screw-in Win-Choke. 12.5" barrel. Oh almost forgot, these supposedly went to agents who worked the federal witness protection detail. Every once in awhile I see news footage of a Marshal holding one so I think he told me the truth. One interesting fact was that Wilson worked closely with Remington and obtained unfinished 870's that never had any buttstock installed so he could make them AOW's rather than short barreled shotguns. Though I'm sure the Feds could care less as that would only be important to the civilian market. I believe it was done because at that time Remington had never produced a pistol gripped only 870. Anyway, that's as close to the real story as you will likely ever hear. At 15 yards it will keep all 9 buckshot pellets on the chest area when shooting paper silhouettes.

Undercover Shoulder Rig for the Remington 870 AOW. Nice piece of leather, glad you posted it. I had never seen that rig before. Kinda spendy at $550.00 but I'm sure it's worth it for those who dwell in that world. It looks like a modern classic. openbolt

I also had Steve thread for chokes and lengthen/polish the forcing cone. Shoots amazing with less recoil and great patterns that are better than my 18" mossberg. Excellent project for sure! |

I took off the Knoxx pistol grip and threw a Shockwave Raptor on it. Now that Indiana can have SBS's (as of July 1st) expect more pics from me.... I've got a pair of 870's and a Vepr that are going to get shorter. Gotta have something to put the Salvo on. |
