i understand the idea of needing the double disk kit for the auto measure, and i understand why the adjustable charge bar would be very useful but how are the two combined? do you need two adjustable charge bars for the use as a double "disk" kit so you can charge rifle cases? |

I don't think the adj charge bar allows stacking. The disks in the DDK have recesses molded in to ther top of each disk that allows the pins from the upper disk to engage with the lower disk, and that's what allows the two disks to stack. I don't think the adj charge bar has any recesses molded in to the top to allow stacking.
The adj charge bar is good for charges up to low-to-mid twenty grains in weight. It's borderline for .223, it depends on what powder and what charge weight you're throwing. If you run out of capacity, you either adjust for half the weight and throw it twice per case or you purchase the DDK which feature the fixed disks. While not infinitely adjustable, the steps between disk combos are pretty small, in the neighborhood of .2g most of the time, and maybe .3g every once in awhile, but also .1g occasionally. When the two max cavities are stacked, I think the DDK takes you up to around 40 grains or maybe a tad higher. |

Regarding the double disk kit, some people and others don't like them. But, isn't that the same with everything else? Anyway, the people that don't like them say they give inconsistent results due to the different diameters of the holes in the stacked disks. The powder will sometimes cavitate (for lack of a better way to describe) and doesn't uniformly fill the volume of the stacked cavity every time a charge is thrown.
Other people say they work just fine. I'm sure it is powder dependent, as well. jonblack |
