i recently got a k98 and would like any help with it. on the top of the receiver i have:
X 42
1940
it has all intact marks and was a russian capture. the bolt number does not match. any help would be great. -jay

42 code is mauser oberndorf
1940 is year of manufacture.
x is the capture mark.
waA655 should be the proof code or waffenamnpt (sp?) for a 42 code k98. a flat butt plate stock would be correct. no slots for a front site hood either.
