i failed again today at zeroing in my MSAR 4x factory optic
made both windage and elevation adjustments to both extremes in opposite directions, no visible movement of the recticle and its POI. am I doing something totally wrong or does it not work as it should |

My suggestion would be have someone else try it to double check- the optics are not very intuitive in how they zero.
There have been some QC issues with the factory optics, so it is possible that is the issue. Unfortunately MSAR does not have anymore to replace faulty ones with as they cancelled the contract with the subcontractor who was making them (possibly due to poor QC?) If it isn't working, MSARDave has been sending out top rails and said he will send a replacement optic when they have one available. |
| I would start with a laser boresighter. They can be had for $30 at ebay. If I recall zeroing mine and the trouble I had getting on the paper as well. After 50 rds at 100yds I still had virgin paper. Now that's embarrassing bringing back a clean target after shooting a cool gun. Doh! It took going to the 50 yd range and zeroing in first. |

start at 25 or 50 to get it on paper and go from there mine is literally 3ft low, and 2ft to the right....its beyond rediculous. Bought the MSAR back in like October or something, shot it maybe 2x, never got it to zero properly. This was my third attempt. Still fail. I am annoyed. |

I could be wrong but remember reading some of posts that stated internal adjustment mechanism can be knocked off the track during shipping. It seems things are way off and adjustments are not working for you. MSAR no longer replaces the optics but you should still contact them if they can fix or rework. I'm taking mine (factory optic) out tomorrow for sighting in. I hope all work fine... |

Mine did this as well, and like many have said MSAR doesn't have any to replace it with. I bet that if you use a laser bore sight the POA will never line up with the laser dot. However, don't despair MSAR Dave will fix you up. Also, he has said that when MSAR gets new optics that he will replace all of those that failed. He is a great guy. I feel your pain, if you wanted a rail model you would have bought one with a rail, I was very upset and frustrated myself, but get in touch with Dave and he most likely will send you a rail to use and you can buy some other optic of your choice. In fact, after receiving my E4 rail, I actually kind of like it. Give it a chance. Hell, I put a cheap ass $50 red/green dot sight on it and it outshoots any gun I own. Imagine if you actually get a good optic. Anyway, like I said I was at the point of wanting to give up on MSAR all together and wondering why are all of these people so happy with this POS. I am now one of those people. I don't even shoot my AR anymore, in fact the MSAR goes to the range more than my full auto AK or full auto SW76. Now this is coming from a full auto NFA junkie! I hope this helps, just hang in there. Heath |

I spent $1600+ on the damn limited edition package and additional stuff on the side, it best either actually work or be fixed.
I bought the the one with the factory 4x optic because I wanted the "classic" look, not a railed rifle. Its nice to have the option of having a railed upper but....the 4x optic was really what sold me on it. |

It is actually a 1.5x optic, not 4x That being said, I understand your frustration, but if they don't have a way to replace it or fix it there isn't a lot MSAR can do right now. As said before, MSARDave will send you out a rail as a 'holdover' and in a couple of conversations with him I know the long term plan is to likely offer another optic, but right now you are just going to have to deal with the fact that ifyours is broke, and you want an optic, the EE is the only place you are going to get one. [ETA] FYI, I was the first guy to have an optic have an issue back about two years ago- a lens came loose on my first mag through the gun. Please don't get me wrong Deet, I totally understand the feeling of frustration (it took 6+ months for my optic to get replaced). Just hang in there and in the meantime MSARDave will do what he can to help out. |

Using the guns irons (atop the scope) as a crude adjuster. At the range the irons are pretty close to being "on". I have the windage adjustment dialed in I believe....however the elevation simply doesnt move. I move the adjustment knob to both extremes, a few different positions between the two, nothing...still same POI from what I see. The recticle isnt moving, so the POI is going to remain the same. Hopefully MSARDave will read this thread and be able to help me out in eventually getting the optic replaced. I could deal with using a rail for now but, I would really really really like to have a factory optic that worked on this.
