I'm going to work on my first .45 acp loads tonight.
How is federal small primer .45 for loading?
Can I use the same recipie for small pistol and large pistol primed brass?
What's a good recipie for bullseye powder for a 1911? (230g fmj)

Thanks

You should be fine switching from lg to sm but you should always do testing whenever you switch a component

would it be safe in assuming that one could use a standard small pistol primer in a sp.45 such as cci 500?

That's what I want to do as I have a lot of these and I have a ton of sp primers. Anyone have experience?

I haven't done any small pistol primed 45acp brass yet but the day is coming, I'm accumulating them.

I wouldn't say that the powder charge between a small pistol primed and a large pistol primed 45acp load would be the same, but only a chronograph would give us that information for sure.

I would say that you would be safe starting a small pistol 45acp load in the middle of the large pistol charge range in any decent reloading manual.

I'd stay away from the hotter loads for now and I'm not too sure I'd start with bullseye on this.

I interchange between both cases without any issues,CCI primers, same bullet, powder & weight (I only load mid range) and have seen no issues, I've used both titegroup and unique only, havent tried any other powders, sorry I don't have a crono though

What press are you going to load ammo with? If you are using a press with a priming mechanism, like a Dillon SDB you will have to change the primer feed tube when going from small to large primers.
