Glad you've still got your eyes.  The range I shoot at most often won't let you shoot without glasses.

My buddy was shooting my 91/30 and it did similar damage to the casing, but the gun contained all the gasses.  It was a good lesson for him to get eye protection.  

We shoot at an open range.  A "shoot at your own risk" no saftey over sight.  I make sure everyone in my group has at least ear protection and after that incident, if they are shooting I'll let them borrow my ESS ICE 2.4 glasses.


Glad you were wearing protection.  It is a good reminder to everyone... only pirates look cool with eye patches.

No doubt in my mind!!

The left photo below is a total case separation I had a couple of years ago (the right photo shows case stretching in a different round).

I was wearing eye protection at the time and had no problems other than my face being covered with gunpowder.
