I was wondering.....

If I bought an XD Tactical in .40 S&W, could I buy a new top end (slide assembly, barrel, etc.) in 9mm and interchange calibers?

What's the lowdown on this....I heve heard of this being done to Glocks, so I am curious?

I have both a 9 and 40 XD. The slides between the 9 and 40 do not fit. Nor does the 40 or 9 mm barrel switch out. I've heard that Bar-Sto makes a drop in conversion barrel for the XD but have not seen on.

There is a width difference between the two guns. At least my XD9 is thinner than my XD40.
I think a magazine interchangeability is about it.
