What powder are ya'll using in your Loose Change projectiles?

I picked up the only Pyrodex FFG bottle i could find at several stores. Since then I have found out that there are many types. Mine is FFG RS.

Curious if other types give different results.

FFFg is much better. You can dope it with 30% (by weight) pyro AL powder to boost it a bit and still be safe. copper thermite is also an option.

Very cool. I'll give that a try.

Now to find a supplier of both those near me.

Does also make a better pop sound when going off?

Fffg, or ffffg if you can find it is better.  The finer the powder, the better.  I know that if you are using actual black powder you can spike it with 10-20% (by volume) pyro grade aluminum powder and get a better bang.  More confinement is better too.

Woo hoo. Brownells.com is currently waiving the hazmat fee. Just ordered a pound of FFFG.

Theres usually a vender at larger gun shows that sells pyro materials.  Used to be able to buy it on amazon too, dunno if you still can though.

I use reg ffffg black powder.  I do 20% by weight, but the difference between weight and volume with real black powder is pretty negligible.  I have tired more, with no difference.. I have found that thicker nosecones give a better report as well.

There are a lot of online venders.  Precision Pyro Supply, Sugar Foot Outdoors...and a ton of others.

I was just coming to post a similar topic. Trying to figure out how to make my spotting charges as loud as possible while staying inside the .25oz rule.
