hey guys, long time lurker, first time poster. I have a question, as you can tell, about the Ultralite 50.

now i cannot, for the life of me, remember what it is called, but i think you guys will know what i am talking about. the part that you grasp to rotate and slide the bolt to chamber a round, that is what i am talking about. i keep thinking charging handle or whatever.

it sticks straight out on the ultralite 50. anyways, do you guys think it would be a bad idea to cant it back and down a bit? it looks as if it screws into the bolt, so i could see dissasembling it and heating it up to put a couple bends into it..   just maybe having it facing backwards at about a 25-35 degree and and downward at something like 35-45 degrees...

it has always irked me when it sticks straight out like that, and if i am looking to purchase a .50 upper then i want to see if there is one like that already or if it can be done.. also, this would obviously be done so that there is no problem cycling the rifle..

thanks much guys hail.gif

You'd probably lose a little mechanical advantage for unlocking the bolt by bending the existing UltraLite50 handle, but the Ferret50 does use a bolt handle as you describe:

Ferret sells that lower. The lower above is the $950.00. They offer one for $688.00 and that is the one I am now looking at getting.

-50/Multi-Caliber Lowers

Basic lower - $688.00

(Match trigger, Pachmayr recoil pad & A2 grip standard equip)

Sportsman lower - $782.00

(Basic plus the adjustable cheek rest)

Comp lower - $950.00

(Sportsman plus the monopod)

This is the $688.00 Basic lower, the one I am looking at getting.

yea, i was figuring that.. that ferret50 handle is almost exactly what i am looking for though.. and a nice rifle to boot. if need be, i will hit up a guy i know that has a machine shop. it isnt a super critical portion of the rifle, so milling it out of aluminum would be fine i think.

meh, i will prolly end up just getting a ferret50 upper then..

also, that lower is very nice... dammit, im gonna end up getting a whole rifle through them...hanks
