Never fired an uzi, not familar with the workings of the inner componenets, but I do have a question.

When you have the "lower" , aka the pistol grip section by itself, is there a reason I can not move the selector sitch out of the safe position?  Does it require an upper to be attached./assemlied to d so?   Or am I not doing something properly?

Won't hurt a thing.

You should be able to move the selector. Try depressing the grip safety while moving the selector.

I tried that before posting... and using a "fair" amount of force to move the selector while doin so with no luck

Guess it's stiff and/or cruddy.  Lube it and work it some.

Weird, I just checked both my UZI's and the selector moves on both the full size and Mini UZI with ease. There was no need to depress the grip safety either. But I do have to depress the grip safety in order to pull back the bolt back. Both my UZI's are full-auto open bolt submachine guns also. Maybe spray the lower with CLP or something and try harder to move the selector.

Or actually do you have a picture of the internals of the lower? If it has a bolt safety then it does have to be attached to the receiver in order to work. You can push down the bolt safety lever in order to work the selector though. I'm guessing this is a full-auto lower correct?

Here is what the bolt safety looks like http://files.uzitalk.com/reference/pages/boltsafety.htm
