| Found a Uzi in local pawn shop today. Didn't ask to see it because the guy working there is a Prick. My question is this one had the short barrel. Is this ok since the ban expired or could it be a preban. This guy says its OK now that ban has sunset and I know it's Ok on AR stuff but couldn't remember since I have only dealt with AR's in the past. Had folding stock /$1700. |

That's what i sort of thought. I know the guy doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground because he was selling new postban Bushmasters with col stocks early part of last year. When I asked if it was full auto he gives me the deal about about they were illegal in SC. When I corrected the turd, he says yea if you have a class 3 license. Which I correct him again and tell him there is no license but it is a $200 tax stamp. This kid works there for his dad who is just about as dumb. I remember when I was in there about 3 or 4 years ago and his dad just had to show me something he had gotten from Shotgun News. That right! A brand spanking new "pre 81 drop in AR15/M16 autosear. I think the Government should consider sterialization at birth for certain people... I guess my real question is do I just walk away and forget it or let someone buy it and get in trouble. Not trying to be the Uzi Police but this guys needs a serious wedgee to get his attention. |

You can get a brand spankin' new Uzi from Vector for $600. You never know with that kinda people what it might be, dummy barrel, or maybe an unregistered SBR. On the semi's though the 10" SMG barrels have to be turned down to fit, or the 16" cut off, either way you've got to know a little bit to get it done. Who knows he may be one of those guys that 12 months ago was selling "Pre-ban Rock River Arms" rifles for $1,200. |
So it isnt a government sting operation after all. |
| You know there are a lot of gun dealers / pawn shop owners who don't really know or keep up with the law. I have not kept up with it because I sold all my AR's early in 2004. I was just trying to find out if the gun was legit. The barrel is short just like on a full auto. Looks like it only sticks past the forearm a couple of inches. I have enough sense to come to a forum like this and get advice. Just would hate to see a newbie but this and get busted at the range. I'm pretty sure he sold a post ban Bushy with col stock long before the ban had sunset. I don't have $1700 to spend on something that might cost me a lot more later. |
| I suspect that the barrel is probably a dispay barrel. If not, here's what you do. Go back to the pawn shop and tell him you would like to buy the UZI but a cop friend said it is illegal with the short barrel on it you will give him $500 for the gun without the barrel. |
| I thought $1700 was a little steep. I think he is out of touch with reality. It's OK with the short barrel because the ban has sunset, but I will still charge you a high price because it is a preban. I know old Colt ARs are holding their value because Colt will not make them with Preban features but this guy is smoking some serious stuff. |
is it even a IMI gun?? I bet its a Vector he's trying to pass off as a preban |
It could be a Chinese UZI. I've got a Chinese UZI with a thumbhole stock and a 16" barrel. The barrel nut was tack welded at the factory before the gun was parkerized. selector. |
