I have a AAC Prodigy incoming, probably looking at mid May to June before I take possession.
I want to use it on a Walther P22, and I plan on getting the standard P22 adapter with 1/2-28 TPI.

So anyway to the question/issue I am inquiring about.  I also will be building a dedicated .22LR upper, I was wondering what type of mount or adapter do I need to put on the barrell so I can attach the can, but I also want to shoot it with out the can?  For the adapter I should use peel washers to line it up?  Or should I just get a thread protector for the barrel?

here is the barrel I plan on using: .22LR M4 barrel

thanks

No adapter needed, though you may need a peel washer or two, depending on the depth of the threads in the suppressor.

Spike's barrels are threaded 1/2x28 and about .600" deep, just like 5.56 ARs.

The TPI will match, the thread depth will be different.  Most 22LR suppressors will accept .630" of barrel - which is the thread depth of the standard AR-15 barrel.  However - you will get build up on the exposed threads of the barrel inside the can.  Not to mention it puts the barrel closer to the baffles which causes decreased suppression (reduces the volume in the blast chamber) and faster wear.  The correct thread depth for most 22LR suppressors is .400".  Using a crush washer with any suppressor is a bad idea - and can cause baffle strikes.  You need the shoulder of the barrel to be 90ยบ to the bore in order to keep alignment and avoid baffle strikes.  What you need is a .200" spacer that is machined to fit this purpose.  I have not used peel washers other than as a shim kit to index mounts.  .200-.230" of peel washers may be asking for trouble.

Don't use the standard adaptor on the Prodigy.  Get their Fast attach adaptor for the Walther and use their Fast attach adaptor for the  for the 22lr upper too.  It will have perfect alignment and it ataches in 1/4 turn.
